Super NES Transfer & Receive utility

What??

This utility is to transfer files between your amiga and a Super NES using
a Magicom or SuperCom backup-unit.
Why??
~~~~~
Another SNES Send utility??? Yes! This utility is much better then all the
others released sofar. Because:
- All the others can only SEND files to the SNES, this utility
can alse RECEIVE game files & game data...
- It's much faster then the [L]egend thing...
- It doesn't fuck up your serial port like Starr's util...
- Full user friendly point and click interface...
- Multiple files handling...
- Ehm.............. I made it!!
Starting this fucker
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you start the program there are three possibities.
1) Send can't connect to your magicom
This can happen when
- Your SNES is turned off
- Your SNES is playing games
- Your cable is not correct
In this mode, all gadgets are disabled. You can only quit...
2) Send connects in Write-Only mode
This can happen when
- You don't have the correct cable (See end of this doc)
- The cable is not plugged in the joystick port (Been playing
with your amiga ???)
In this mode you can only send files to your magicom.
3) Send connects in full read/write mode
In this mode all gadgets are available, and as a bonus, SEND
displays some info about the game cardridge plugged in.
(So it will probably read "SUPER MARIO WORLD" etc..)
For this programm to work you'll need reqtools.library in your libs:
directory. The kick 2.0 version is included in the archive.
The Gadgets
~~~~~~~~~~~
I will now describe the 8 gadgets:
* TRANSMIT & RUN FILE
When you press this gadget you can select a file from the directory.
If the file is a correct game, dos or data file it will be sent
to your SNES. See next button for more info. After a game or dos has
been sent it will be automaticaly run.
* TRANSMIT FILE
When you select this butten, a file requester will pop up asking you
the file to transmit. When you have selected a file, Send will try
to determine the type of file. There are 3 types of files:
1) Game files
2) Dos files
3) Data files
All files will be sent to your magicom correctly: Game and dos files
will be loaded to the magicom normal memory, data files are loaded
to the battery backed-up memory.
If the file is a game file and the name ends with ".1" send will
look for ".2", ".3" ... ".9" and send them all!
* RUN GAME FILE
This will run a game file allready in the magicom memory, if there
isn't one, your SNES will crash.
* RUN GAME CARD
This will run Super Mario World.. (Or any other card you have
plugged in)
* TRANSMIT SAVE DOS
This will transmit the magicom save dos. See next chapter for more
info
* RECEIVE GAME FILE
This will receive the game file in the magicom memory. A file
requester will pop-up asking you for the file name. This button
only works correctly if the save dos is loaded!
* RECEIVE GAME DATA
This will receive the data from the battery backup-ram of your
magicom.
* GET GAME INFO
This will show you some info about the game loaded in the magicom
memory.
The save-dos
~~~~~~~~~~~~
With this program in your amiga and the save-dos in your magicom, you have
a powerful tool. You can copy games from your amiga to the diskdrive of your
magicom and reverse!
1) AMIGA -> MAGICOM DISKDRIVE
- Use "TRANSFER SAVE DOS" to send & run the save dos,
- Use "TRANSFER GAME FILE" to send the game to your magicom's memory,
- Wait for the file to be transfered,
- Now select "SAVE FILE" on your SNES and the game will be saved.
No need to enter a name, this is automaticaly done during transfer!
2) MAGICOM DISKDRIVE -> AMIGA
- Use "TRANSFER SAVE DOS" to send & run the save dos,
- Select "LOAD FILE" on your SNES and select the file to load.
- Wait for the file to be loaded,
- Now select "RECEIVE GAME FILE" on your AMIGA. A requester will pop
up asking you the file name.
Easy!!
Game info
~~~~~~~~~
In the window you can allways see some info about the game last processed
by the program. This info is taken from the file and usualy is correct,
but is doesn't have to be!! For example, when you have installed a BSL
trainer-patch, the four first bytes of the game name are fucked up...
(Nice coding guys... NOT!!)
Cable
~~~~~
To be able to use this program, you'll need to make a cable. If you only
want to send files, you can use the same cable as used for every other
send utility. If you also want to use the receive options, you must make
a special cable, connecting your SuperCom to your joystick port 2.
Because of commodores "fully compatible" parallel port, (NOT!) I had to find
another way of getting the data from the SNES. This has become the joystick
port. So you can't use a joystick and the receive options at the same time.
So what??? Who needs a joystick on his amiga if he's got a SNES???????
For the Write-Only cable you'll need to make the following cable:

This program is warrented to use some processor time and take up some disk
space. Altough it'll probably work just fine, it's your problem if your
