Hi!

I assume that if you downloaded this program, you've either seen or heard of
the Farandole Composer from Digital Infinity. Many people have bugged me for
a standalone version to just play songs with, and some who's vga cards don't
work with it, just wanted a program to use to play FAR files. Well, here it
is. Notice that it's nothing spectacular in this version. A few features
have been taken out cause I don't have enough time to finish them now and I
want to release it (like file flagging/interactive mode/shell to dos). These
will be added later. I have a lot of homework to finish tonight still (yes
I still go to high school, I'm in the 10th grade).

Here's a run-down on how the program works:

a) Have your ULTRASND variable set correctly
b) Have a VGA card
c) Have some FAR files
d) Run the program like this:

FP COOLSONG.FAR

where COOLSONG.FAR would be the name of the FAR you want to play. The rest of
the program is self-explanatory (hopefully). Here's a rundown on the features:

a) Stereo vu-bars (thanks to MAS/mysterious for this idea)
b) A big scrolltext viewport (this is REALLY slow, don't pan around much if
you can help it. I'm working on a way to get the whole thing on the screen
   at once for next version)
c) Sample box, displays first 20 samples
d) A nice scroller to give you something to do.. this is also REALLY slow,
if it's too slow or annoying, you can turn it off (S).
e) Each feature is turn-off-able so that you can get the entire screen
   sitting still if you want.
f) Run in text mode in case my VGA stuff doesn't even work right or in case
you want to use it in a multitasker
g) Exit after song (no looping) for play in batch files, etc

And optional command line params:

a) /? /h or /H - get help
b) /t - run in text mode
c) /e - exit after one playthrough
d) /f - sad temporary file flagging mode if you HAVE to have it!

Notice also that the version of the player will always correspond to the
version of FAR files that it supports. IE Player v.93 will play files
compatible with Farandole v.93 and back.

Have fun! Until next version!
