OASIS - THE BUST - FULL STORY
On the 25th July 1995 at 5.00 pm The sysop of Oasis (Dan) had a knock on
the door, not fully dressed he answered it to the call of a man asking
to deliver a parcel and that Dan needed to sign for it. Strange that nobody
delivers parcels in the afternoon, Dan tried to close the door and the man
put his arm in front of the door. Dan again tried to close the door but he
crushed the guys hand leaving him with lets just say a lot of pain :)
Out the back came a policeman, 3 fraud squad detectives and John Loader.
They presented him with a order to be arrested on `Conspiring to defraud
AT&T by supplying and distributing calling cards within the period of Jan
1992 and December 1994`
This was used as an excuse instead of the real reason - the BBS which is why
John Loader was there presumably. He was immediately summoned with a court
order.
He was then escorted to the police station while a few other guys stayed
behind to confiscate all his gear which included 4 modems all his hardware
and all documents and papers he had. Also taken were his keys and wallet.
They then said that HE MAY NOT BE CHARGED WITH THE OFFENCE HE HAS BEEN
ARRESTED WITH!!! Which leads us all to believe that there was no way they
could arrest him on the BBS and so had to find another excuse. Dan had no
dealings with AT&T. O Big fat one later said that he had been on his BBS for
2 or 3 days. This guy had obviously been trying to get onto Dans BBS for a
long time without success.
So ANOTHER UK BBS goes down becasue of those fucking wankers.
OASIS will NOT be back and that is for definate. There is absolutely no way
that he will be up again after this and we await the court hearing.
Dan wishes to thank all his friends who have supported him through the years
and appreciates all the concern he has been getting.
To end on a lighter note Its a good bet that the guys who had his hand
trapped in the door needed hospital treatment 8*).
