Just a reply to the HF messages about Super Loopz

Like I said in my initial message about the Hellfire release of Super
Loopz, I was not sure whether or not the Hellfire version was fucked,
simply because I could not see how Rascal / HF had cracked it. Now, I am
not perfect, just like anyone else, so lets just recap on a few points, so
that people will understand why I released it.
1) My version DEFINATELY does not crash, all I am doing is what the RNC
protection is expecting back.
2) Rascal did NOT store the serial number anywhere.
3) The RNC Copylock STILL ran on the HF version, which meant that even if
Rascal had found the correct offset to store the serial number in, once the
RNC protection returned a value of $00000000 into D5, it would have
overwritten it.
4) The check is still there in the game to see whether or not it has a
serial number stored. Now, the fact is, this particular game does not
require the EXACT serial number, just that the serial store pointer MUST
have something in there for it to work.
5) I still cannot see how Rascal cracked it, perhaps he has intercepted the
code elsewhere to stop the check from activating, but I can't see it.
So I won't apologise for releasing it, even Siriax knows that the way it
was cracked was a bit lame (no offence to Rascal intended). Also coupled
with the fact that the copylock routine is called TWO other times as well.
So, HF claims it is 100%, and they are probably right, because as I stated
in my initial release file, I could not see any side effects of the
protection, but then again, some protections dont kick in until later on.
And just because you can get all the level passwords means nothing......
look in the code file and they are all listed one after the other........
so what does that prove!!
Nothing against Hellfire or any of the guys, as I have met Iggy, and he is
an ok bloke. So don't take it as I released it for the sake of releasing
it, I released it because of the fact that on the face of it, All Rascal
seemed to have done was put in a NOP at the end of the protection, and I am
sure that was already there.
Just another point...... Iggy.... Its all well and good you having Pinball
Prelude three weeks before us....... but to admit to everyone you couldn't
warp it is just a little on the side of lame. I couldn't warp it either,
so I just wrote a reader for it..... just because DMS or NOMADWARP cant do
it, just means your cracker has to be that little more inventive!
