Official statement from Digital Corruption 12/10/98

Lately, we have been blamed for viruses, backdoors, the Kennedy
murder and god knows what else. In order to clearify both one thing
and another, we have decided to make this public statement.
First of all, WE HAVE NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT
LAME MIAMI PASSWORD LIST. If we had done it, you would have known.
It is very sad that Holger Kruse, with no other support than untrue
rumors, tries to defame us. First he claims, again with no proof,
that our program DC-Telnet has a backdoor, that we have formatted
the hard drives of innocent Amiga users, and now this. It is
however obvious why he is targetting us with such an annoying
frequency; over the years we have cracked and distributed quite a
few versions of Miami, and by blaming us he 1) withdraws attention
from the current Miami problems and 2) scares people from using
pirated software. All his accusations are nevertheless false and
untrue. We are software pirates, yes, but that doesn't make us
responsible for any backdoor problem.
Second, these rumours originate from the GalaxyNet IRC channel
#amiga_warez, where the channel owner Brad Barnett (also known as
Hymie, a big time pirate that was busted and exposed in an
AF-article a while ago) has issued a propaganda campaign against us,
beginning the day he was "dismissed" from DC and his IRC channel
turned into one of the lamest spots on the net. It is quite
possible that Brad Barnett in fact has compiled the list in an
attempt to discredit both us and Holger Kruse. We admit that Brad
Barnett once was our software supplier, but WE NO LONGER HAVE
ANYTHING TO DO WITH HIM. We really want to emphasize this as we
cannot possibly take any responsibility for the actions of
ex-members.
Finally, Digital Corruption is a non-profit organization with
protection removal and software development as main occupations, and
regardless of what others say or think WE DO NOT INVOLVE IN NETWORK
TERRORISM, NEITHER DO WE UTILIZE BACKDOORS TO OBTAIN KEYFILES OR
ANYTHING ELSE (for obvious reasons we don't need any keyfiles, and
commercial apps are too large to leech from modem users). We stand
for what we do, and all our products are labelled with our name.
There is no reason to beleive that we would ever release anything
(including lame password lists) without taking credit for it.
Regarding the *real* Miami backdoor: it is a known fact that many
users have been denied a Miami registration on the basis of being
software pirates. How can Mr. Kruse know all this? Sendings to
h1.nordicglobal.com? Our lips are sealed, but the truth is out
there.
