Hello there and welcome to the first issue of "Ripping-Popipping", an
online magazine written by LhA V1.50r and exclusively published by
PROFESSiONAL RiPPiNGS, iNC. - the new label of Kimble's Granny! :)
Our topic for today is how to rip PlaySID tunes from SNES demos. There
exists a number of intros with previously unreleased PlaySID tunes (e.g.
Censor's intro for "Ultima VI"). To rip the sounds should be rather easy
for experienced ones:
1> The tune has to be copied from DRAM to SRAM. We look for the bytes
BDxxxx9FFE0F7F and E8E0yyyy. 'x' represents the tune's location in
DRAM, 'y' is the tune's lenght in bytes. Extract the tune!
2> Fine, we ripped the tune. But in order to play it we have to find out
the actual C=64 addresses. We look for the bytes 9Fxxxx7FE8E0,
AB20yyyyAB6B, and AB20zzzzAB6B. 'x', 'y', and 'z' are the required
addresses.
3> Rename any PlaySID icon to the corresponding name and modify the tags
via Workbench/Icons/Information. Mission successfully completed...
Do not forget to...

- check if the tune/code is RNC-crunched
- swap low/high bytes
- support the incredible music conference on "Uphold the Law"
Note: Ripping tunes from Censor's "SidMania" demo is different since it
uses a Table of Contents. I found/decoded it, but I'm too lazy to
write anymore. Drop me mail if you are looking for one or the
other tune from that demo...
