All the members of HF have been aware that I have tried to find a new sysop
for the bbs in recent months, but to no avail.
The next best option was to sell the hardware cheaply to one of its best
users, and so ORSoN/hF has benefitted from his constant support by getting
the hardware at probably half its price.
The 2 main reasons for closing EW were to do with my lack of time to run it
properly.
1) I have owned a fishing boat for some time now which needs constant TLC. The
time I'm spending on it is to the detriment of the BBS.
The BBS is looking dated, it needs new utils and a change of ANSI's. Time
and interest need spending on it, I don't possess either.
2) Things evolve, and its obvious for any BBS to be successful nowadays,
its sysop must spend time on the internet via cable. If there had been
cable in this area 12-18 months ago, maybe things would have turned out
differently. We still don't have cable and by the time we do, I won't be
able to make use of it.
A few comments from me to :
ZOLTRIX : Thanks for the great support from the outset in Oct 94. You'll
always be a friend, regardless of whats happened recently.
IGGY : Great leader, great group, shame about the dodgy Italian football
team.
CRUISE : Thanks for the support in the early days. Your BBS rocked the UK.
REBEL : Nice utils and a fine BBS.
TANGO&KENTOM : Two great guys, you set EW alight a time.
SARGE : Get your BBS sorted. you carry the torch for HF in the Uk alone
now...
ICE D : Only sysop who could drink more than me and still be ligible on the
keys.
ZYGOTE : Thanks for the ansi's. Why aren't you in Glastonbury with the
other soap-dodgers ?
NEXUS2 : Your battle with AXL to be week-top UL on EW has been great. SOrry
its got to end.
AXL : Man I wanted you to have this puppy, the money wasn't a problem. the
distance was... Thanks for the uploads, thanks for understanding.
CHELSEA : You were one of the finest. Sorry about the outcome, but I just
couldn't get hold of you.
NES : Good luck man, sorry you lost all those creds.
ORSON : Your a nice guy who deserves a brael. We'll go wreck fishing in
September.
To all those I forgot to mention :
Sorry folks, this is a hastily written note, I only found out this morning
the BBS was sold. Now its gone.
Keep the scene alive, I was glad to be part of it, but now I must move on.
