Kings Personal Info Editor v1.3

Kings Ransom - 1-305-247-7605
===============================

What Is It?
-----------
 It's a replacement for the "W" command (WRITE STATS). Maybe the best
replacement for it to date.

Whats So Good About This Util?
------------------------------

* Full Ansi Color
* Manual or Random passwords (SYSOP DEFINED)(to stop the evil JRCOMM-HACKER)
* Sysop Config file to turn ON/OFF 7 different options!
* Arexx, So it will work on ALL systems!

NEEDED TO RUN:
--------------
1st off let me state something: Arexx utils are compatible with ALL AMIGAS!
if an Arexx util is not working for you, then you have not properly set it
up & probably forgot to instal some of the libraries or spelled something
wrong somewhere. Follow these instructions to the letter, & all should be
fine!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
You need Arexx Installed in your System.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
AREXX is "NOT" included with this Util.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
also: copy the file RPSTART into your C: and then edit your
        "startup-sequence" or "user-startup" to load this file
        upon BBS bootup.   ex. C:RPSTART

        copy RexxPlus.lib
             rexxplslib.library files to your LIBS: directory.

also IMPORTANT: make sure you have "rexxdoor" & "rexxport" in your
                BBS:UTILS/ directory... They are standard AmiExpress
                commands, amd allow AmiExpress to properly communicate
                with Arexx doors & utils.

SETUP:
------

 Make a directory called:  DOORS:KingsInfo/

and put these files in it: KingsInfo.rexx
                           KingsInfo.cfg

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now Edit your BBS.CMD file as so:

          11 Spaces In
          |
---------------------------------------------
*W        RM050Doors:KingsInfo/KingsInfo.rexx
---------------------------------------------
||        |||  |
||        |||  ` 'Doors:KingsInfo/KingsInfo.rexx  - Location Of Program!
|| ||| Make sure not to change this!!
||        |||
|| ||` 050 Is the minimum access to use this door. Change it to what
||        ||      you like.
||        ||
||        |` M For a mutilnode bbs (S For single)
||        |
|| ` R For an rexx type door which will use the 'Rexxdoor' Util
||
|`Letter to bring the door up on the board. In this case 'S'
|
`-Retard Option. To Make Sure they only use 'S' & only 'S' to get the
door to come up. If not used, things such as 'Stimpy' and 'SA' would
still bring up the door.

SOMETHING TO KNOW:
------------------

 At this time, this program is missing one option that is in the REAL
"W" command. That is the "CLEAR SCREEN AFTER EVERY MESSAGE" option.
In All reality this option is not needed as the user will choose wether
or not he wants this option when he first logs onto your BBS...
Reason this option has not been put in is because quite simply I have
not seen an AmiExpress Arexx code/command that does this.. If you know
how to do it, PLEASE, let me know & I will update the program.

 Also, the very 1st time a user logs onto your BBS he will get the
DEFAULT (OLD) "W" command.. This is un-avoidable as it is hardcoded into
the BBS to load that information at that time. This is also good however
because the user AT THAT TIME & THAT TIME ONLY, will be able to select
YES or NO for the ScrnClr option..

BEFORE RUNNING THIS DOOR:
-------------------------

 Before you run this door you need to edit the "KingsInfo.CFG" file.

 The Config file is set up to completely configure the DOOR to your
liking by answering 7 questions with either a "Y" (YES) or "N" (NO) flag.

IMPORTANT: ALL FLAGS MUST BE CAPITALIZED!!!

THE CONFIG FILE OPTIONS:
------------------------

Here is a description of each of the FLAGS in the KingsInfo.CFG file:
The flags represent my own personal defaults,but you can turn on/off
whatever you want.

       FLAG
(LINE1)  Y    ; Can users edit/change their NAME/HANDLE??  YES or NO
(LINE2) Y ; Can users edit/change their LOCATION?? YES or NO
(LINE3)  N    ; Can users edit/change their PHONE-NUMBER?  YES or NO
(LINE4) Y ; Can users edit/change their PASSWORD? YES or NO
(LINE5) Y ; Can users edit/change their COMPUTER TYPE? YES or NO
       FLAG
(LINE6)  Y    ; Y=FORCE RANDOM PASSWORD MODE
       FLAG in this mode, the user will not be able to choose
                  his own password. This eliminates the JRCOMM-HACKER
                  possibility. More about this explained shortly.

                N=CHOICE MODE
                  in this mode, the user will be given the option of
                  either choosing his own password, or having the BBS
                  choose one for him.
       FLAG
(LINE7)  Y    ; SYSOP/COSYSOP BYPASS OPTION               YES or NO
       FLAG
                 yes= Anyone with a access level of 200 & above
                      (usually only CoSysops & Sysops have these access
                      levels) will be able to change/edit options EVEN
                      if you have them FLAGGED OFF.

                  no= Access levels of 200 and above will be treated the
                      same as any other user access level.

THE JR-COMM HACKER:
-------------------

  Although JrComm is a great terminal program, it has one major flaw.
It's RANDOM-PASSWORD generator really stinks.. It Stinks so bad that it
does not even create a "TRUE-RANDOM" password.

Lets Say you put the bbs "KINGS RANSOM" into your phonebook, and then
created a random password for that BBS. Ever try creating another random
password to replace the one you just made? Well it makes the same exact
password..

You see, Jrcomm takes the BBS name (Kings Ransom) & then through its
own routines, makes a PASSWORD up.. Problem is, if another guy somewhere
else puts KINGS RANSOM into his phone book (AND BY CHANCE OR ON PURPOSE),
spells Kings Ransom the EXACT same way as dude #1 did, well then dude #2
will come up with the same exact password.. If he changed just 1 character,
he would get a slightly different password..

The Jrcomm Hacker is that sick little Mutha, who has been on a bbs for some
time & knows what users are on it.. & then tries logging on as each with
a Jrcomm Random password hoping to find someone who was stupid enough to
let a Good Program with LAME random routines choose his password.

RANDOM PASSOWORDS:
------------------

 You will find by testing the RANDOM PASSWORD generator of this util,
that it is very RANDOM, very FAST, & very SAFE in the aspect that it makes
sure the user knows his new password & what could happen to him if he does
not. Personally, I force all my users to choose a Random Password, and with
FORCED RANDOM turned on, they will never ever again be able to put in some
lame EASY TO HACK password..

 * All passwords generated are always 8 chars (THE MAX)
 * The RANDOM PASSWORD generator uses every possible keyboard LETTER,
   NUMBER, & CHARACTERS when generating it's password and will always
   generate a "8" letter password for maximum security!
 * When a user has selected RANDOM PASSWORD by choice, or was forced into
   RANDOM, the program will remind the user of his password before he
   exits the door. It will Tell him to make sure he writes it down, &
   something to the effect that he will have a very hard time getting back
   on the bbs if he does not! ;)
