Well, hello there !
Multi file zoo randomizer.. :) What the fuck is a multi file zoo randomizer ?
I bet you've all seen those PD boards with 'the quote of the day'. I thought
that it was pretty funny, but too simple for me ! What I was looking for was
more like that randomizer Total Confusion is using. This utility does that
for you, but can do more! Features like more than one quoteline and a lot
of different linez-files are what makes this randomizer special.
This zootility should work under AmiExpress 3.x-4.x.

\/_/\_\
o/\_\/_/--[ DISK CONTENTS ]-------------------------------------------------o
\/_/
Spread like hell, but spread it all !
The disk has two archives. If you want to install the zootility by your self
you should unpack the zOOrANDOM.LHA archive. It is not difficult to install
the zOOrANDOMIZER by your self. Read the docfile carefully and everything
should be clear.
zOOrANDOM.LHA archive contents:
bbs/utils/zOOrANDOMIZER 17764 bytes The randomizer
bbs/utils/zr.config 275 bytes Config file
bbs/utils/filez/1.zr 864 bytes Linez 1 file
bbs/utils/filez/2.zr 1130 bytes Linez 2 file
bbs/utils/filez/3.zr 984 bytes Linez 3 file
bbs/utils/filez/4.zr 678 bytes Linez 4 file
bbs/utils/filez/5.zr 797 bytes Linez 5 file
bbs/commands/syscmd/LOGOFF.info 1060 bytes /X LOGOFF icon
bbs/doors/scripts/LogOff.script 258 bytes /X LOGOFF script
Then there's the install script using the "Amiga Application Installation
Utility Version 2.4". Use this one and nothing should go wrong ! If you use
the installer script, then you can skip the installation part in this doc.

\/_/\_\
o/\_\/_/--[ INSTALLATION ]--------------------------------------------------o
\/_/
You could use the installation programm ! That's the easy way.. If you do so,
then skip the next part till the [CONFIGURATION] part. If you choose it the
hard way, keep on reading....
This program is NOT a door, it's an utility (or a zootility as i call my
utilities for /X). It should be copied to the bbs:utils/ directory.
The config file (zr.config) should be there too. The linez files (1.zr,
2.zr, ....) should be placed in the bbs:utils/linez/ directory. Just the way
you've found them in the archive.
To get it working, add the next line to your logoff.script:
-------<cut here>-------
Utils:zOOrANDOMIZER
-------<cut here>-------
Where Utils: is the assign which /X made by installation /X. This assign
should be made !
The last things to do are: configure the zr.config file, and write sum nice
quotes.
You should have this:
Utils:zOOrANDOMIZER <-- the zOO rANDOMIZER itself
Utils:zr.config <-- config file
Utils:linez/1.zr <-- linez files
Utils:linez/2.zr
Utils:linez/3.zr
Utils:linez/4.zr
...

o/\_\/_/--[ CONFIGURATION ]-------------------------------------------------o
\/_/
ZR.CONFIG
---------
The first file to configure is zr.config. You can add comments if the line
starts with ';'. In this config file there are two things taken care of.
It tells the randomizer where to place and how to name the output file and
how many linez-files you have in your linez/ directory. You may use up to
65535 linez files.
First line : full path AND filename of the output file.
Second line: #number of linez files. (max 65535, need more ? contact me !)
Just see the example of the zr.config and everything should be clear !
n.ZR (n = MIN. 1; MAX. 65535)
-----------------------------
The second file(s) is a linez file. Before the actual linez you have to
put three things: #lines of each quote, from who is the quote and #number
of total quotes.
First line : #Number of linez; each quote in this file contains #number of
lines. You may use till 65535 linez, but I won't call that a
quote. Remember: the whole file will be (8 + #number) linez
long.
Second line: The 'quote-by' line. Tells the user who said those brilliant
words. This line will be auto-centered and can be 50 characters
long (max).
Third line : #Number of total quotes in the file. If you have 3 linez for
one quote, and you have 10 quotes, you should have 30 linez
(10 * 3), placed like this:
line1/1
line1/2
line1/3
line2/1
line2/2
line2/3
...
And again you can use max. 65535 different quotes in one file.
Actual linez: Type your quotes here, max. 73 characters ! The line(s) will
be automaticly centered.
And again: watch the examples in the archive, and all should be clear !

\/_/\_\
o/\_\/_/--[ USAGE ]---------------------------------------------------------o
\/_/
You are now able to generate quotes from different persons with different
lengths. The randomizer chooses the file and quote randomly. To show the
output file, make a text file called BULL10.TXT and put next lines in it:
-------<cut here>-------
~f
~SS_bbs:bulletins/bull13.txt
~CR_>>rETURN>>
-------<cut here>-------
Where "bbs:bulletins/bull13.txt" is the output file. :)

o/\_\/_/--[ NOTES ]---------------------------------------------------------o
\/_/
This is version 1.00ß. If there is something missing in the config files or
whatever, the program should leave you with an error message. Please note
that there shouldn't be any empty lines in the config file or the linez file.
An error message is always something like: ERROR <error nr.>
Where error nr. is:
1 - ERROR OPENING CONFIG FILE.
2 - ERROR CLOSING FILE.
3 - ERROR CREATING FILENAME.
4 - ERROR WRITING OUTPUT.
5 - ERROR OPENING LINEZ FILE.
6 - UNEXPECTED EOF.
7 - ERROR READING LINE.
8 - FSEEK ERROR.
9 - ERROR WRITING LINE.
Please check your config file and linez-filez first. Place them in the right
directories ! Do NOT rename te config file and/or the line filez !
If there still goes something wrong and/or your hard-drive fucks up, i am not
responsible. I have tested this util like a million times, but it's still the
beta version.
