We’ve prepared a fixed version of Spooky Town:
- All (officially 😉 reported issues with running the floppy / ADF version have been fixed.
- We’ve also added an HD version, so the demo can now be launched directly from a hard drive.
- The HD version runs under a full Amigha setup" and has been tested on several different Amiga configurations.
Hopefully this one should behave a bit better in the wild. ;)"
Cahir:
Fixed
- A500 with a Chinon drive: the demo no longer hangs at the loader waiting for the drive motor.
- Floppy loading: fixed the occasional "Reading from wrong track" panic when the drive switches disk side. Confirmed on a Gotek.
- A1200/A4000: the AmigaOS-launched version no longer crashes with Guru 80000008.
- A1200 with Fast RAM: no more crash on exit.
- Launched from AmigaOS: fixed memory corruption during loading. The demo now runs start to finish on an A1200.
- Workbench: the demo can now be started from its icon.
- 68020/68040/68060: a 68020 is no longer mistaken for a 68030, and CPU caches are handled correctly on the 68040 and 68060.
Improved
- Floppy loading is slightly faster.
- Crash screen:
- Readable on the 68060.
- Shows the full register dump and the exact build.
- A photo of it can be decoded on a PC to report the problem.
Jazzcat:
The loadertune is a chiptune arrangement of "Haunted Graveyard" by Ayako Mori from the "Ghosts 'n Goblins" soundtrack.
The middle section features a remix of the opening part of the Stage One music from "Ghouls 'n Ghosts" by Tim Follin.
And if the bassline in the skeleton dance sounds familiar, you're not imagining things - a small fragment of it comes from "Thriller" by Rod Temperton.
