presents yet another hot warez:
ESPRIT by STARDUST
(Multimatograf 2025 party version)
... a ZX Spectrum 128 / TR-DOS demo...
> okay, so the story was: stardust folks were crunching HARD on this demo,
yet a last-minute bug forced them to throw a LARGE chunk of stuff from
it and show a crippled party version (which still got 1st place!).
of course, they promised a final binary release after fixing all bugs,
however, time passed by, they made a new prod (Corvet, for CC2025), and
eventually sq told me that the final version of esprit will probably
never be released since they were so burned out that it's better to just
forgot about it
> yet, Grongy (one of the gfx artists in this demo) was been pestering sq
and making jokes of him out of disappointment that the demo was never have
been available as proper release. meanwhile, i figured out the .sna'pshot
of the party version was still available in the partysystem so i quickly
come up with a plan.
> before revision 2026, i needed an idea for the Multimatograf party slide,
and i couldn't miss the "marination" joke (remember Marinows from MF2018?
that one gift for nyuk's then-newborn son that has never been released)
so i took two blank floppies, annotated them as if they contain marinows
and esprit respectively, then attached them with a magnet to my fringe,
decorated with other junk, took a photo, processed it a "bit" and there
goes the party invitation slide :)
> ofc i couldn't just end there, so i dissected the snapshot, wrote a simple
TR-DOS/#3D13 loader and recoreded a demo on one of those floppies (namely,
on Isot - one of the WORST and least reliable 5'25 floppies in the world)
and presented with all honors to sq at MF2026 afterparty :D
he was ABSOLUTELY excited about it :D
> finally, we agree to release the party version as if it has been "cracked",
"disked", "desnapshoted", "demarinated", "de?????ed" and so on.
so, i made a little crack intro (that was released at DiHalt Summer 2026
and came 4th in the demo compo), and right now packing and uploading it.
> technically, it should work on any speccy128-compatible machine with
Beta128 or DivMMC, so no need to worry about pentagon-exclusiveness lol.
i could of course make a tape version but not this time - it's easy to
go lame, strip the cracktro and write your own loader :p
