: Short story how this demo was refound and released :
: -------------------------------------------------- :
: :
: Back in early 1994, after DHS had released the :
: Conflict Falcon demo, work started on a co-op demo :
: with the guys from New Beat. :
: :
: Starfall, which was the working title for the demo :
: was never finished. There were a lot of graphics :
: made (now lost) for an intro sequence and multiple :
: soundtracks from both Toodeloo and Split. :
: :
: In May 1994, the "KupolenKårparty" was held and we :
: decided to hand in a very early preview for the :
: compo that consisted of a few screens only. We :
: managed to drag it out for several minutes thanks :
: to the never ending shade-sprites. Sorry! :
: :
: Those who have a good memory can see that one of :
: the shade sprite shapes were re-used in the :
: Demolition demo two years later. In fact the dot- :
: tunnel in Demolition was originally made for this :
: demo, but was not finished until Energizer of :
: Lazer fixed it up in the summer of 1995. :
: :
: :
: In turn of events, the demo and source codes were :
: eventually lost in crashed harddrives and Linux :
: installations. However, by pure luck we found a :
: very incomplete backup in late 2017 that consisted :
: of a little bit of the sources, almost no graphics :
: but most importantly; the PRG-file that was handed :
: in at the party back then were in the backup. :
: :
: Anyways, the curious who wondered what DHS were :
: doing all the time between Conflict and Demolition :
: got one bit of the puzzle here :-) :
