How to start the game:

Java 1.7 must be installed and *on the path*. (Sorry...)

You can then click run.bat - or type 'java -jar RSBA.jar' in a command shell within the unzipped directory.

THE GAME

RSBA (Retro SPACEBRAWLER Arcade) is a retro arena brawler arcade game set in space for 2-9 players. 
It is supposed to be a light hearted party game for shooter enthusiasts, that should be easy to pick up, yet hard to master.
The game tries to simulate an old retro arcade screen for that genuine retro look! (May not be the best option for vision impaired players so there is an option to turn it off).

The game will keep score of number of kills, deaths, suicides and round wins, and the best player wins after the chosen number of rounds is played (highest score wins).

DEMO 

Before demo, go to settings to choose resolution options, number of players, and number of rounds. For 9 players, 'Player 1 uses keyboard/mouse' must be selected.
Leave CRT effect on for that 'RETRO' look!

Known bugs:

If a controller is reconnected after a disconnect, it will be assigned to the wrong player on reconnect. So please don't do that. :-)

**STRATEGY TIPS**
- Selected the weapon you want to upgrade before picking up the upgrade! The upgrade upgrades your current weapon.
- Boost to avoid bullets or to race to upgrades - but don't spend boost unnecessarily - you can just boost once every 10 seconds.
- Be careful about which weapons you upgrade - not all upgrades work on all weapons! You have to learn the hard way which.
- It is hard to win without upgrading your weapon. 
- Be careful around the spark gun! It instakills! (But has limited range).

**PLANS FOR THE FUTURE**
- Input of player names and choice of ships and colors.
- More weapons and upgrades.
- Choice of ships. 
- Single player options vs bots or a story line
- Different behavior for ships
- Players have to cooperate to kill a big boss at the start of each level, then go at each other afterwards. Like in Double Dragon!
