RUSH HOUR 3
--------------------------------

This is a 3d render by Maali
that started as just trying a
bokeh effect in 3dsmax. failed
a bit with that and it ended
up like a very blurry wannabe
screenshot from Watch Dogs.
But hey, at least i have an
entry for Evoke 2014, if i
manage to upload it in time!

The artwork is very textures-
driven. kind of an experiment
with minimal custom geometry
i could get away. Obviously
the DOF/z-blur really helps
masking that minimalism for
still an OK end result. :)

Some facts...

I used the following tools:
- 3ds max
- mental ray
- photoshop

The picture was made with:

- mostly planes and boxes.

- a dozen of modified textures
  (some from cgtextures.com)
- also procedural ones

- regular pass
- DOF/bokeh pass (rather the
  slowest z-blur in the whole
  universe :P)
- reflection pass
- AO pass
- some B/W masks for composition

- bit of postprocessing in
  photoshop for slight vignette,
  color correction and fixing
  some render ugliness here and
  there.

also considering most of my 3d
is modelled with the 'should run
realtime'-thing in the back of
my mind, i assume that if there
is a nice DOF shader, this can
run realtime :) Considering a
certain E3 shaders mod, yes. :)

greet go out to:
Desire peeps
Kewlers peeps
Satori peeps
Outline peeps
Evoke peeps
and all the sceners i drink
beers with at rand() party
