1. FOR YOUR INFORMATION
=======================
Proxy is a computer happening that has been organized three times
before. Even as the demo scene parties become rarer, we still want to
organize Proxy to give you such an event. By attending you can help
us to keep going. You may register right away.
2. THE PLACE
============
The event will be held at the Lukio of Kannus, just as in 1998 and
2000. Kannus is a town with 6500 inhabitants and the distances from
larger cities are as follows:
Helsinki - 503 km
Rovaniemi - 373 km
Oulu - 166 km
Kokkola - 41 km
Ylivieska - 38 km
The place is located less than half a kilometer from the town center,
where you will find everything you need. Two grillrooms, three restaurants,
two pizzerias and four shops in the center will meet your demands.
3. THE TIME
===========
In the summertime, at least this once. Proxy is held on the 15th to the
17th of June, in the summer for the first time that is. The doors will
be opened at 7.00 pm on Friday night.
4. THE PRICES
=============
The entrance fee is 120 FIM for gentlemen. For your money you get a
handsome badge, an Internet connection, the right to vote, a place for
your computer and the right to take part in the competitions. However,
if you let us know your name and contact information two days in
advance, you'll get in for 100 FIM. You'll find our contact information
at the end of this file.
For ladies the entrance fee is 50 FIM. They are entitled to the same
rights as gentlemen. No special prices for advance registrations.
5. THE FACILITIES
=================
- There will be enough tables and chairs.
- Probably enough electricity cords, but bring your own too.
- A twisted-pair network for both local and Internet connections.
- You may also use a BNC cable if it is absolutely necessary.
- You can borrow twisted-pair cables from the organizers.
- 9/1Mbps ADSL for the Internet connection.
- 10/100Mbps LAN depending on your network interface card.
- Large and sufficiently quiet sleeping facilities.
- High-quality audio equipment.
- A bigscreen almost 5 by 5 meters used for the compos and
information.
- Voting will be held in the LAN.
- You can submit the compo entries either by FTP or at the info desk.
- A well-equipped cafeteria.
- The possibility to order pizza.
- Security staff to maintain order 24 h / day.
6. THE RULES
============
- Playing music at a reasonable volume is allowed. During the compos
it is not allowed to play music, and the organizers have the right to
impound your audio equipment if you fail to follow this rule.
- The Finnish tobacco and alcohol laws are applicable at the party place.
- Drugs are in special observation. Stop spoiling others' reputation.
- The organizers are not responsible for the attendants' items.
- The organizers have the right to remove you from the party place
for a given period of time, should you fail to comply with the rules
or the Finnish law.
- We reserve the right to change these rules.
- By attending the party you agree to follow these rules.
7. THE COMPOS
=============
C64 / AMIGA / PC DEMO (combined)
- Maximum size 6 MB (6.291.456 bytes)
- Pure animations are not allowed
- The production must not save anything on the disk
- In case the production needs interaction, one of the authors will
take care of it
C64 / AMIGA / PC INTRO (combined)
- Maximum size 64kB (65.536 bytes)
- Pure animations are allowed
- The production must not save anything on the disk

MUSIC / MULTICHANNEL
- Maximum size 1024 KB
- Will be played for 4 minutes at most
- Up to 32 channels
- The allowed formats are XM, IT, S3M and MOD
- The packed IT format is not allowed. Save your module unpacked.
OLDSKOOL MUSIC / 4CH
- Maximum size 64 KB
- Will be player for 4 minutes at most
- Up to 4 channels
- The allowed formats are Protracker MOD, AHX and C64 executable
- If you want to compose you music on some other platform / program,
have it approved by the organizers and bring the necessary equipment
with you.
MUSIC / MP3
- No size limit
- Will be played for 4 minutes at most
- Only your own songs (violators will be expected to pay any royalties)
- Enclose a list describing the equipment used
- We accept Ogg Vorbis format too
PIXELED GRAPHICS
- Maximum resolution 800x600x24bit
- Scanned, ripped or rendered pictures are not allowed
- Your name must not be visible in the compo version
WILD
- Almost everyhting is allowed, subject to agreement
- Duration up to 10 minutes
- Deliver it on video tapes (VHS) or in some other way
- The video tapes will be returned
- We reserve the right to shorten "funny" home videos
The compo entries are submitted via FTP to the local server or
alternatively on diskettes or CD at the info desk. A jury will choose
a suitable amount of productions for the compos. We reserve the right
to create a CD composed of the entries. Only one entry per author in
each compo.
This year, there will be no more hassle with the paper sheets so make
sure all the necessary information is included in the archive where you
submit your entry! Contact information, the name of the entry and
any instructions must be submitted in an ASCII FILE, pure text that is.
Download a ready-made template from our homepage.
You can test both demos and intros on the compo machine before the
actual compo. We encourage testing to make sure your production runs
fine in the compo. Especially the authors of Linux productions are
advised to bring the source code with them.
8. THE PRIZES
=============
Money left from the entrance fees will be divided as follows:
