The Takeover organization is proud to present to you, for the fourth time
in a row, a new edition of Takeover: Takeover 2000. Renowned for its
quality releases, its daring competition rules and its fast network, loved
by all for its great atmosphere and scene spirit, this year's Takeover will
not stray from the path laid out by the previous three editions.
Takeover 2000 will feature all that you came to expect of us: a super fast
network including full internet access (as traditon prescribes even faster
than previous years), a high quality big screen and ditto audio system in a
separate theatre (the famous "Blauwe Zaal"), party t-shirts designed by
renowned scene artists (one of whom is Made of Bomb, who also designed the
Takeover'98 party shirt), a useful and entertaining party booklet
(informing you of all you ever needed to know (but where afraid to ask)),
and many more.
Since we feel the scene may never stop evolving, we made some changes in
the competitions again. The two most important ones are the absence of
tracker based music competitions and the migration of the demo competition
to Windows only. We have two reasons for limiting the music competitions to
MP3-only. The first reason is that last year's tracker music competition
went disastrous because of the different configurations and audio cards
(not to mention totally inadequate organizers), the second reason is that
almost all musicians devote their time to creating MP3's, instead of the
increasingly absolete tracker based XM's and IT's (made in trackers that
are several years old!). Besides, you can always convert your XM's and IT's
to MP3's. The reason for limiting the demo competition to Windows is even
simpler: DOS is dead, everyone uses Windows. We do allow DOS intros, for
obvious reasons: Windows executables have much more overhead than DOS ones.
Okay, enough talk, we will shut up now, but not before saying that we hope
to see you all, 16, 17 and 18 June, for the best demo party of the year,
Takeover 2000!
-- The Takeover 2000 organizers
P.S. For those of you who might worry that they are going to miss out on
football action from the European Football Championship, we have good
news (and for those who thought they could flee from that stupid game
by coming to Takeover, we have bad news): all EFC football matches
played during the Takeover weekend that are broadcasted on public
television will be shown live on the big screen, as far as they do not
interfere with the normal party schedule.

Some party organisers call us an Internet Service Provider. Although our
aim is to organise a kickass demoparty we still take this as a compliment,
because it proves that the Takeover network is still better than seen at
any other demoparty. This will not be different at Takeover 2000. As soon
as we know the exact network specifications we will announce these at our
website (http://www.takeover.nl).

Well, do not expect fancy road maps here, but don't worry, it is very easy
to find.
If you are coming by plane:
You can get a direct flight to Eindhoven Airport (Welschap) from
various cities in Europe: Amsterdam, Maastricht, London, Birmingham,
Manchester, Paris, Zurich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Strassbourg.
If you are coming by train:
You can reach the university quite easily by train. The university
buildings are situated near the railway station. Leaving the plat-
form, you go down the stairs and turn to the right. You leave the
building on the north side, facing the bus station. The university
buildings are visible to the north-east and are a five minutes' walk.
If you are coming by car:
* From 's Hertogenbosch, Motorway A2/N2:
At the intersection 'Ekkersweijer' take the motorway A58 and follow
the signs 'Centrum'. Keep driving in this direction. Soon after that
signs with the word 'universiteit' appear. After crossing the ringroad
'Ring' you see the sign 'universiteit'. Take the turn-off to the the
left.
* From Maastricht, Motorway A2 and from Venlo or Antwerpen, Motorway A67:
At the intersection 'Leenderheide' follow the signs 'Centrum/Tongelre'.
When you arrive in Eindhoven, you take the second exit on the
roundabout. Go straight on. At the second set of traffic lights you
follow the signs 'Nijmegen/'s-Hertogenbosch'. Keep driving in this
direction (across a canal and under a railway). Soon after that, signs
with the word 'universiteit' will appear. Immediately after the next
roundabout you see the sign 'universiteit'. Take the turn-off to the
left.
* From Tilburg, Motorway A58:
At the intersection 'Batadorp' you take the exit 'Randweg Eindhoven
(Noord)/Centrum' and at the intersection 'Ekkersweijer' the exit
'Randweg Eindhoven/Centrum'. Then you keep following the signs with
'Centrum' (motorway A58). After crossing the ringroad 'Ring' you see
the sign 'universiteit'. Take the turn-off to the left.
* From Nijmegen, Motorway N265:
When you arrive in Eindhoven, follow the signs 'Centrum'. Keep driving
in this direction. Soon after that signs with the word 'universiteit'
will appear. After crossing the ringroad 'Ring' you see the sign
'universiteit'. Take the turn-off to the left.
* From Helmond, Motorway A270:
When you arrive in Eindhoven, take the first exit on the roundabout
towards 'Ring/universiteit/'s-Hertogenbosch/Tilburg'. After the
roundabout you see the sign 'universiteit'. Take the turn-off to the
left.
