1. ABOUT DH'97
==============
  FEEL VERY WELCOME to what may become Sweden's largest scene event!

  DreamHack '97 will be held in Arena Kupolen in Borlänge, Sweden. 14000
  squaremeters should be enough room for everyone: 2000 computer-places, an
  exhibition area, a video hall and some sleeping halls.

2. WHERE & WHEN
===============

2.1 Date & Time
---------------
  THE PARTY WILL START AT 08.00 (am) on Thursday October 30th and end at 16.00
  on Sunday November 2nd and is of course open 24h a day.

  More information will be located in the Schedule section. 

2.2 Arena Kupolen
-----------------
  DREAMHACK ' 97 WILL BE HELD IN Arena Kupolen in Borlänge, Sweden. Arena
  Kupolen is the largest indoor-arena of Sweden and the largest spherical
  building in Europe. The total area is about 14000 squaremeters and we think
  that should be enough to please everyone. The ceiling height in the exhibition
  area is 24 meters and the diameter is 124 meters.

  There are 1800 parkinglots outside the building. See the Traveling section for
  information on how to get to Borlänge. 


3. FACTS
========

3.1 Party Features
------------------
  THERE'LL BE A HUGE local network in the hall with a fast Internet connection,
  powered by Telia. The connection will be at least 4Mbit/s. Our tech crew will
  give you as well as the hardware 24h support.There'll be a BNC-connector on
  each computer-place.

  Speaking 'bout huge, there'll be a great video-screen for the compos. The
  screen is 5x6 meters and the projektor gives 2000 ansilumen.

  Of course we'll give you a powerful sound system that'll let you feel the
  music! This system uses 8 LAB power ampfliers for a total of 13200W and is
  sponsored by Fas Ljud & Ljusproduktion AB.

3.2 Information
---------------
  You can always get information at our Info Desk, where our crew will help
  you. This website will of course be the official information channel. You can
  also get updated information on our information system, at the Info Desk.
  There'll also be an official IRC-channel, where our Info Crew will try to
  give you 24h help - which means you don't even have to move from your chair
  to get answers to your questions. Never hesitate to ask anybody in the Crew
  either. They'll wear Crew t-shirts and special Crew-badges so you can find
  them!

3.3 Food
--------
  INSIDE THE HALL, there be 24h food service at at least six different
  locations. You'll be able to buy cheap fast food whenever you get hungry!
  Besides that, there's a McDonald's restaurant in the same building. They're
  sponsoring us and give all DreamHack visitors 5 SEK discount on all meals.
  We're also sponsored by Jolt Cola and they'll of course give us a special
  party prize!

3.4 Sleeping Halls
------------------
  FOR THOSE OF YOU who wants to sleep, we've reserved space in the conference
  part of the hall. 700 squaremeters will be used for sleeping only. Remeber
  to bring your own sleeping-bag. 

3.5 Toilets and Showers
-----------------------
  THERE ARE PLENTY OF TOILETS in the building and also some showers. To give
  all attenders a fair chance to use the showers, there'll be a schedule system
  based upon the color of the badge you'll recieve at the entrance.

  Our 24h cleaning service will keep the showers as well as the toilets fresh,
  all the day 'round.

3.6 The Exhibition Area
-----------------------
  THERE WILL BE AN exhibition area in the hall, where you can buy hardware,
  software, magazines and such stuff - of course at low party prizes.

  Björn Lynne (Dr.Awesome/Crusaders) will be there, selling CD's by himself as
  well as by Chris Hülsbeck and Allister Brimble. 6 titles by Björn Lynne, 7
  titels by Chris Hülsbeck and 2 titles by Allister Brimble. The prize is 150
  SEK for each CD.

  Björn Fogelberg will sell his CD "64" on the party.

  Synchron Data will be there selling their CDs. Programmer's Heaven, Black
  Philes, X-Philes etc.

3.7 Entertainment Machines
--------------------------
  THERE'LL BE some entertainment machines somewhere in the hall.
  We'll let you know as soon as they're confirmed.

3.8 Laserdome
-------------
  During Friday we will build a complete Laserdome playfield in the building.

3.9 Video Hall
--------------
  WE'VE RENTED A 150" video projektor to run movies 24h a day, in our special
  video hall.            

3.10 Events
----------
  THE SORT-OF-TECHNO BAND PUFF, known from the Lollipop Festival, will give a
  live performance right in the main hall! See the Schedule section.

3.11 Parking
-----------
  THERE ARE 1800 PARKINGLOTS outside the building, where you can park your
  car free! 
  See the Traveling section for information on how to get to Borlänge. 

3.12 Electricity
----------------
  THERE WILL BE an electrician available 24h a day!

5. TICKETS
==========

5.1 Tickets
-----------
  THE TICKET PRIZE is 300 SEK (approx $40) if you buy them in advance via the
  swedish ticket service "Biljett Direkt" (The prize is 280 SEK + 20 SEK as
  service fee). Call +46(0)77-1707070 to order. If you choose to buy your ticket
  at the entrance it will cost you 350 SEK!

  YOU DON'T NEED ANY EMAIL-ADDRESS TO PARTICIPATE ON DREAMHACK. IF YOU'VE HAD
  ANY TROUBLE ORDERING A TICKET, PLEASE TRY AGAIN.

5.2 Girls' entrances free
-------------------------
  ALL GIRLS WILL of course get in without paying anything! You don't need to
  order any ticket. Just be there! Bring your own computer or just come visit
  one of the most exciting events this year!

5.3 Visitors
------------
  VISITORS WILL BE ABLE TO buy a visitor ticket, in order to visit DreamHack
  during one day, at a lower prize (80 SEK). The visitor tickets will be sold by
  the entrance.

5.4 Tables
----------
  THERE WON'T BE ANY table reservation at DreamHack. To get a nice place beside
  your friends, you'll have to come early. There will be 2000 computer-places in
  the hall. Every place will have power outlets and a network connector. 


6. TRAVELING
============

6.1 Time tables
---------------
  We'll soon give you all neccessary time tables for buses, trains and flights.
  For information on trains in Sweden, call +46(0)20-757575. For information on
  buses inside the region Dalarna, call +46(0)20-232425. They're toll-free
  numbers at least from inside Sweden.


7. GENERAL RULES
================
  *Alcohol and other drugs are strictly prohibited in the party area.

  *Smoking are not allowed inside the hall. 

  *Weapons, fireworks, spraycans and other stuff that may hurt and/or damage
   people, buildings, hardware etc are naturally not allowed in the party area.

  *Microwave owens are not allowed. We offer you a 24h cheap fast food service.
   See the Facts section for details.

  *All damages will reduce the total prize money, and will be reported to the
   Police. Swedish laws are valid inside as well as outside the building. 

  *No one is allowed to sell anything in the party area without permission
   from the organizers. If you want to sell something, please contact DreamHack
   Organizing (info@dreamhack.org) before the actual party date.

  We'll have 24h security personel for your safety and to prevent damage.
  Note! DreamHack takes no responsibility for your belongings. Don't leave your
  equipment without someone checking them up!


8. Competitions
===============

8.1 General Competition Rules
-----------------------------
  The organizers reserve the right to make any changes to any of the
  competition rules at any time, and to disqualify any entry if it is not
  suitable to attend the competitions for some reason. No sexual, racist,
  disturbing or lawbreaking material will be accepted.

  The organizers have the right to cancel any competition if the quantity
  and/or quality of the entries isn't up to standard.

  All competition entries must be delivered, on disk, before the deadline. All
  contribution disks must be labeled with:
    - competition name
    - entry name
    - author name/group

  Contribution disks will NOT be returned!

  At least one of the authors of every entry must be present at the party.

  None of the contributions may have been released before.

  Every author has to have all copyrights on everything handed in.

  Any filename must use only standard characters; A-Z, 0-9 and maximum length
  of the filename is 8+3 characters.

  All contributions will be released except the entries in the WiLD compo.

  All entries with graphical contents will be shown on a 5x6 meters
  videoscreen, with a projector with a capability of 2000 ansilumen. All
  entries will be recorded on a high quality videosystem before shown on the
  screen.

  Max one demo per coder.
  Only the first 10 minutes will be shown.
  Max screenmode 800 x 600.
  Must be standalone executable + data files.
  Max 550kb conventional memory.
  Change of screenmode during run is not recommended.
  Nosound support and Soundblaster or Gravis Ultrasound.
  No interaction may be required.
  No pure animation is accepted.
  The user must be able to exit at any time by pressing ESC

8.4 Amiga Demo
--------------
  Max 10Mb of disk space uncompressed.
  Max one demo per coder.
  Only the first 10 minutes will be shown.
  Change of screenmode during run is not recommended.
  No interaction may be required.
  No pure animation is accepted.
  The user must be able to exit at any time by pressing left mouse button.

8.5 C64 Demo
-------------
  Standard C64 without any accessories.
  No interaction may be required.
  Max one demo per coder.
  Must be executable.
  Only the first 10 minutes will be shown.
  No pure animation is accepted ;)
  Only 1541-compatible disks will be accepted.

8.6 PC Intro
------------
  Max size in executable form is 64kb (65536 bytes).
  Max one intro per coder.
  Only the first 5 minutes will be shown.
  Max screenmode 800 x 600.
  Must be standalone executable.
  Max 550kb conventional memory.
  Change of screenmode during run is not recommended.
  Nosound support and Soundblaster or Gravis Ultrasound.
  No interaction may be required.
  No pure animation is accepted.
  The user must be able to exit at any time by pressing ESC

8.7 Amiga Intro
---------------
  Max size in executable form is 64kb (65536 bytes).
  Max one demo per coder.
  Only the first 5 minutes will be shown.
  Change of screenmode during run is not recommended.
  No interaction may be required.
  No pure animation is accepted.
  The user must be able to exit at any time by pressing left mouse button.

8.8 WiLD Compo
--------------
  Do whatever you want as long as it's cool! Bring you own equipment if you
  like, feel free to use the stage. 
  If you want to use the videoscreen you must hand in a VHS or S-VHS-cassette
  (European PAL system). If you need help in recording anything to the
  S-VHS-format, contact info@dreamhack.org or the Demo Crew as soon as
  possible at the party.

  No copyrighted material or anything breaking Swedish or local rules will be
  accepted.
  
  Your contribution must be limited to 15 minutes.

8.9 4ch Music
-------------
  Maximum size 1Mb
  Maximum 4 channels
  Maximum running length is 4 minutes
  Max one song per musician.
  File format must be .MOD

8.10 Multich Music
-----------------
  Maximum size 1Mb
  Maximum running length is 4 minutes
  Max one song per musician.
  File format must be .MOD, .XM, .S3M or .IT

8.11 Raytraced gfx
-----------------
  Max size is 1Mb.
  Max one picture per graphician.
  Max resolution is 800 x 600.
  Max screen depth is 24 bitplanes.
  The picture will not be scaled or converted.
  You also must submit a version without your signature on it (which will be
  shown on the videoscreen).
  Supported file formats are .JPG, .TGA, .LBM, .IFF and .PCX

8.12 "Handmade" gfx
-------------------
  Max size is 1Mb.
  Max one picture per graphician.
  Max resolution is 800 x 600.
  Max screen depth is 24 bitplanes.
  The picture will not be scaled or converted.
  You must submit 2 "working"-versions of the picture that shows the process
  of creating the picture.
  You also must submit a version without your signature on it (which will be
  shown on the videoscreen).
  Scanned, raytraced or ripped pictures will be disqualified.
  Supported file formats are .JPG, .TGA, .LBM, .IFF and .PCX

8.13 ANSI gfx
-------------
  Max 80x50 in 16 colors text mode.
  Max one picture per graphician.
  Format must be .ANS

8.14 Useless Utility
--------------------
  There will be a Usless Utility compo after all. Rules are coming up soon..
