Yezz...this is AwEsoN^iLS writting here...
I just want to say sorry for the disaster, which took place on
5th November after the WoC, and tell you why the party failed !!!
Well, before the party started, most of the iLLUSiON-Germany
members met on the WoC. The days before we said, that all
members should be at the party-place at 4:00 pm. When we wanted
to leave the WoC, we met EXECUTOR and asked him, what has to be
build up in the party rooms. He said, that everything was oki
and everything was build up, right now. Therefore we asked him,
why we should leave the WoC that early. He did leave the WoC
then with only a few iLLUSiON dudes - most staied to advertise
for the party for one more hour. When we arived at the party-
place, we found that nobody fixed some signs for the visitors
for easy finding the party. I talked to some people, who came
by car and most of them did not find the party-place directly.
Possibly some guys did never find to the party. We then tried
to fix as many signs as posible, but it was already too late.
The signs where not good at all, too, because the signs we fixed
where the COMA-sheets, which we spreaded at the WoC - therefore
there were no arrows to show the right way (we painted them on
these sheets, but I gues that it was impossible to see them
while driving in a car) on them. EXECUTOR had been told to paint
some nice signposts, but he did not do it. Two days before the
party, we asked him, if we should do some, but EXECUTOR told us,
that I.WAHN had done some - that was not the truth. Before we
finished fixing some signs, the party had opend it's doors. When
we came back to the party-place, we saw that there we only a few
tables set up in the main-room. Therefore just after some minu-
tes, the tables were filled up. There were some problems with
getting connected to the electricity for some people, but this
problem was fixed very fast (at least I think so). Next thing
was, that there were just 200 voting-sheets. This was not be-
cause we did not expect more people, but this was my fault. But
I think that this was not the main problem of the party at all.
The party-rooms itself where problems, too, because the walls
where not very high, so it was very hot in the rooms after one
or two hours (well, due to the fact, that most people where in
the main-room most of the time, the other room was not hot at
all). But up to the moment when the competitions took place,
everything was quite oki. There were 350-400 people of very cool
groups, so everyone found some old contacts to chat with. The
beer was very oki, too. Then the music-competition took place.
I expected, that (at least) the Protracker screen would be shown
on the big screen (BTW: We managed to get a 3*4m screen into the
room instead of a 2*3m one), but nothing was shown - just the
modules were played. Due to the fact, that there were very many
modules, it was very hard to remember later on, which modules
were good and which were not. After the module competition the
intro competition was started. There were problems with the big-
screen, because it took a very long time to get the screen
started. The screen should have been tested with EXECUTOR's com-
puter before the party opend it doors, but EXECUTOR had "BETTER"
things to do. Due to the the fact, that nobody of the organizers
had tested the intro-/demo-stuff before viewing them on the big-
screen, there were problems with running them on an A4000. Well,
that was on the one hand not the fault of the organizers, be-
cause it was written in the inviation text on which computer the
stuff would be shown, on the other hand we should have wrote,
that all intros and demos would be shown on an A1200, because
some guys do not have the possibility to test their stuff on an
A4000. Then there were some really funny seconds, when someone
(was it EXECUTOR ???) tried to start an intro on an A1200 from
disk, not knowing which keys to press to get the intro started
(US-keyboard rulez :) . He did forget to copy the DIR-comand to
the disk, so it lasted some minutes to get the other stuff
started. The intros and demos were mixed up, too (why was a two-
disk-demo shown while the intro competition took place ???),
and while viewing a demo (I think it was the one of INFECT), the
competition was stopped. I asked EXECUTOR, what he was doing now
and he answered that he will test all demos and intros and look
in which are logos of groups, because those should be disquali-
fied. He thought, that I had written something like that in the
invitation texts, but this was only ment for GFX and modules.
The competition was not continued, because someone stole some-
thing important of the big-screen (I do not know what it is).
The disaster was perfect when it was said, that the party will
only last until 2:00am. At this time, very many people were
angry and left the party for driving home.
What I want to point out is, that the comunication between the
three organizers was very bad. For example, first it was said,
that all iLLUSiON members would get beer for free - at the party
only the organizers got it for free (so I had to get beer for
all my group-mates all the time :) -, nobody told me, that the
party only would last until 2:00am, etc. I did not do very much
for organizing the party, but I did not get a chance to do some-
thing - everytime I asked, what would have to be organized, they
just said, that everything is allready done.
So, do not blame any iLLUSiON member for this disaster (EXECUTOR
and I.WAHN are no longer iLLUSiON members). We are really sorry
for that and we hope you are not too angry with us. EXECUTOR
told us (after the party) that propably there will be no price-
money given to the competors, because they have lost too much
money because of stolen hardware. There will be "LAME-PARTY"-
text-files out, I gues, but I think those texts will be unneces-
sary because everything is said about the party.
