{9{3 ANARCHY PARTY '92 REPORT
{4 BY DEADBEAT
{1I got up at 5:00am on Saturday 4th of
April, and after rushing around, and a
bit of swearing, I climbed into the
taxi at 6:00am and after a bleary dawn
journey through London, I arrived at
Paddington Station at 6:15am. So with
45 minutes to kill, I collapsed on the
nearest bench and caught up on some
sleep!
At 7:00am I boarded the train, and
began the three hour journey to
Sheffield. Not much to do there
except listen to some music and eat
some breakfast. So the train pulled
in at Sheffield at about 10:00am, and
I walked around the station until I
found my next train. I saw loads of
people lugging monitors and computers
onto the train so I guessed I was in
the right place!
After about half an hour the train
arrived at Barnsely Station, and I
joined the mass of party-goers heading
who-knows-where. But eventually we
all arrived at Barnsley Bus Station,
and I consulted my Anarchy Party Map
for the bus details. Well I couldn't
make much sense out of it, so I just
stood around holding up my ticket,
with a confused look on my face!
Some other party dudes noticed me and
waved, so I jumped on the bus (after
forcing the bus-driver to change a 10
pound note for a 45p journey!). So I
sat back and waited until we arrived
at the party. After driving around in
circles for about half an hour, the
bus stopped off outside the Royston
Civic Hall at about 11:00am, where
everyone was unloading their party
gear, and I headed towards the school,
where the party had spilled over to.
I entered the school hall and sat down
under the LSD (my group then!)
airbrushed poster (by Fish/LSD, cool!)
and waited until I saw some people I
knew. After a while I recognised the
usual lads like Pazza, Shagratt and
Maximan, and we all moved over to the
LSD members only classroom, where
Watchman, Echo, Fish and 2-Cool were
all working on their party releases.
At this point, I finally managed to
have a rest after my four hour
journey. I talked to Pazza about
LSD's future and generally got in the
way! (hehe). When Matrix/LSD arrived,
he brought with him two party intros
he had coded for release that day
(along with Grapevine #9 and 'The Long
Dark Teatime of The Soul' four disk
music demo by Shagratt of LSD). So
armed with these releases for
spreading, I went off with Ciars of
Alliance to find the other Alliance
members.
I met up with Razor Blade and Raistlin
and Alliance (Hi M8s!), and generally
hung around there discussing
Alliance's future production's and
also getting interviewed for their
party video!
After this, not much else happened,
apart from the news that the prize
money for the competitions had been
withdrawn because some selfish
individual had stolen a printer from
the school's computer room. But the
competitions continued anyway. Also
at around 5:00pm, a rumour started
spreading that the police had been
called and were currently on their way
(maybe accompanied by F.A.S.T), to
raid the school. So hastily everyone
moved their gear over from the school
back to the hall. The Police never
arrived [The Police never arrive, the
same rumour starts at EVERY party, by
now people should be used to it,
Pazza], but better safe than sorry!
At about 7:00pm, the party started to
disintegrate so me and Ciars caught a
lift to Pazza's house in Fish's car
(thanx!). After about an hour of
driving we arrived at Pazza's house
except Pazza wasn't there! (later we
found out that Shagratt's cars's
clutch had burned out on the
motorway!). So we drove off to pick
up some pizza's and by the time we
came back at about 10:30pm, the
lads had already arrived). We sat
back and ate pizza while going through
the party releases and torturing
Poppy! (Pazza's dog).
This carried on until 3:00am, when we
started to watch a video called 'Death
Row Gameshow'. During this a pizza
fight started up and also a
competition to see who could throw the
most pizza in Echo's mouth while he
was asleep! This continued until
about 4:30am, when most of us
fell asleep.
I awoke at 6:30am the following
morning and dozed untill 11:30am when
Watchman, Tripper/DMX and a couple of
the other guys left. I got up and
copied the party releases for trading
that evening. Then at 1:30pm, I left
Pazza's house and struggled to
persuade a taxi-driver (over the
phone) to take me and Ciars to
Gainsbrough Station, where we waited
for about an hour and a half for a bus
to take us to Sheffield.
There we caught a train back to London
(another three hour journey!), which
finally arrived back at 10:00pm. Then
I caught a bus home, and got back home
(at last!) at 10:30pm.
Well as this was my first party I
can't really compare this to previous
events, but I found it well organised,
and very enjoyable!
