When you read the headline of this article you may think that I will handle a united Amiga-PC scene. That's totally wrong. I'm talking about a united scene with no groups, just a big family of sceners.

Well, I guess I have to explain this a bit. Imagine that all scene-members left their current group(s) to go independent. Well, then CODER A, who wants to make a demo, dials MUSICIAN A and asks him if he wants to make music for it. MUSICIAN A says that he is busy making music for a music-disk that CODER B is making for him but he recommends MUSICIAN B to CODER A as a composer. CODER A talks to MUSICIAN B and he agrees to make the music. CODER A then contacts GRAPHICIAN A and GRAPHICIAN B for some graphics and they are very eager to give him the pictures he wants. CODER C gets to know that CODER A is making a demo so he contacts him and teams up on the project. When the demo is finished they all walk different paths in their scene-career but they are still friends and the result of their work is eternal.

What do you think? Does it sound like a nice reality? I surely think so. Just make the productions you like to together with the people that want the same thing as you at the same time. To me it sounds like a scene-utopia.

You may wonder what the future for swappers and traders are in my model of the united scene. Of course they can work on as they do now. They can also be independent. Then we are also able to remove the "I'm in the coolest group, swap with me!"-syndrome. That would also be a great thing to do.

Well, I like the people in New Age but what will stop me from working together with them even in the united scene? The groups are just a name, a status. The friendship everybody seems to care about so much (even me) is not to be found in the groups but in the members of the groups. The friendship will exist at least as well as today without groups, trust me.

Is this a reality then? I don't think so. When it comes to things that has to do with the scene outside the screen (and inside it too sometimes) the sceners are quite conservative, I think. If you think that the united scene is a good idea, please give me note in one way or another. Maybe you and I can create The United Scene ((C) 1996 Note / New Age) together in a near future?
