\F2\4\MThe Summer Party 1996
\M- Party Report
\F1\3

\C[ClipArts/pinnen.Chnk]
\MThe Summer Party 1996 held
\Min the Danish city Aalborg,
\Mwas a very nice event with
\Mits excellent atmosphere and
\Mwith the premises that were
\Mtotallly superior any other
\Mparty. But still, there were
\Mquite a lot of less good things...

The major thing that made this party a bit week compared to other big parties was the fact that only 200-400 (figures varied) people showed up. The organizers had prepared for almost twice as many. Though, the fact that this few persons showed up, made the atmosphere and overall mood much more enjoyable and more pleasant for the visitors. The fact that the premises were very good didn't make matters worse. The party arena were actually the best I've ever experienced as a party-visitor. To me the only premises that can match these of The Summer Party were the ones at TCC '93 in Gothenburg.

Another thing, apart from the premises, comfort and good atmosphere among the visitors, was the fact that the toilets were nicer and better than I've ever experienced at any party. They were almost as good as at home, I'd like to say! Too bad that there were only one shower available for the visitors and that shower weren't actually meant for the visitors. You had to ask an organizer to be able to use it. This was of course not very good.

At The Party, the food is very expensive, but this wasn't the case at The Summer Party. The prices were actually very good compared to most parties held nowadays. You could get hot-dogs, pasta, salads and much more for very fair prices - something that of course was very positive.

\F2\1\MThe Competitions
\F1
\2After about 24 hours, the organizers announced that the competition prizes had been considerable reduced due to the fact that the main sponsor Escom had backed out due to internal, economical problems. I know this affected the release of some productions. Azure/Artwork didn't, for instance, release his 4k intro.

The competitions in overall were really bad. The reason was very simple: The South Sealand party had been held just one week earlier.

There was only one demo of real quality released in the Amiga demo competition - by Balance. This demo was meant to be bigger and include more routines, but as the prizes were this reduced, Confidence didn't code more routines at the party, which was his intention in the first case.

The graphics competition wasn't good either. Only tree or four pictures of quality. The music competition wasn't better. Almost only one or two modules of quality according to many musicians. The 40k intro competition was also bad with only one OK intro.

\F2\M\1Party Sum Up\2
\F1
When summing up the positive and less positive things about The Summer Party 1996, it could look like this:

\M\3Positive things
\2* Nice atmosphere
* Very good premises
* Nice town (Aalborg)
* Aalborg has got a zoo with 1000 animals including penguins and sea lions (We should have went there, Frame! /t0j)
* Fair prices
* Clean toilets

\3\MNegative things
\2* Most organizers weren't very well informed about the competitions etc. (How unusual!).
* Few visitors
* Only one shower
* Few contributions and bad competitions overall

It was a good party, but it was a pity more people didn't show up. Yet, some famous groups like Passion, Artwork, Infect, Citron., C-Lous, Balance, Sardonyx and Silents DK were present.

\F2\1\MSee you at The Party!
\F1\2\MAs it's common to say...
