\M- Party Report

With a great lack of motivation I entered the expensive train to Stockholm to visit Party Remedy this year. The last years edition was a real bad party according to all who were there that I have talked to. The expectations wasn't too high. The real reason for me to visit Remedy was that I had to write about it in AmigaInfo, a new Swedish papermag.
\2The train trip was quite amusing, sitting down with Nike and Chewie discussing with a drunk criminal that just had got out of prison and found Jesus. After some mistakes, for example taking the wrong underground-line, we were there. Well, what to say, the party wasn't as bad as I had expected.

Unfortunately most visitors were traders and that is why so much shit has been written about this party. The only worthy party report about Remedy so far has been written in ROM. The rest are made by modem-maniacs, trashing traders and superkewl Sysops.

I have to say that Remedy '96 was one of the most funny parties I've ever visited. That is because I spent the days in Stockholm with very amusing people, namely Chewie, DJ Cat, Nike and Vedder. We found a room that should be locked at the third floor in the hall which contained two nice and comfy sofas. A security-guard paid us a visit but some tired glances made him leave us in peace in our forbidden sleep.

The competitions wasn't too good. The music-competition contained only one really good tune, Some1 & Morrow's "Bistro 2001" which won fairly. The graphics-competition contained two good pictures and those were Skutt's and Jamsam's, placed first and second. The intro-competition contained one really good intro, TBL's "Tractorbeam" that won, and the demo compo two good demos, TBL's "Darkside" and C-Lous' "Kolor Remix". Personally I think that Darkside is one of the very best demos ever because of it's wonderful music and design. Though, there are some details, like Tudor's picture "Real", that render small drawbacks when it comes to the design. I hope that the final version is even better. Unfortunately I haven't had time to watch that one yet.

One bad thing was the prizes, or should I say the lack of real prizes. OS/2 Warp-t-shirts, software for PC and Porno-CD:s was handed out. Porno-CD:s as prize at a party shouldn't be accepted. Such prizes should never appear at a party that claims to call itself serious. Well, you have to understand the organizers. The party resulted in no winnings, they lost 3000SEK.

I had a great time at Party Remedy '96 even if some of you traders hadn't. Skize and Skutt of Limited Edition told me that they will arrange a smaller party this autumn. Remedy '97 will probably also be a reality and that in better premises. If we are lucky these two parties will result in prize money.
