Imagine sitting with your grandparents in a small car travelling to Icing '96. You really have big expectations because Icing '95 was the best party in the party history. You are chatting with your grandparents and the 200km seems like a soo big distance. Well, at last you are there...

Wow! It seems to be as good as Icing '95. The same place, the same cozy people. I thought to myself: "This party won't disappoint me!".

Well, I'm sad to say it did. The surprise-competitions wasn't as good as they was at Icing '95. The organizing wasn't as good as Icing '95. Nothing, except for the demo-compo, at the party was as good as Icing '95.

Icing '96 wasn't a bad party though. It was a great event but still I'm a bit disappointed.

The party featured so nice surprise-competitions like real-time-drawing, Robyn-look-alike-contest and silly-handle-competition. The party also gave us some live music (I mean music and not just silly techno) that most people didn't enjoy - unfortunately. Well, real music for computer nerds? No, it doesn't work.

Well, when it comes to the real competitions then?

The music-competition was extremely bad. There were just two good tunes and they were Coma's tune that ended up on second place and (Fender's) and Jazz' tune that ended up fourth.

The graphics-competition was way better. It contained a lot of great pictures and I think that MRK's picture should have won and not Newt's but the choice of the people can't be wrong (as a true communist would have said).

The intro-competition wasn't as good as the one last year but there were at least two good contributions, TBL's and Session's. TBL won and their intro was named "Mind the Carrot 2" after their intro "Mind the Carrot" that got last at Icing '95.

The demo-competition was very, very good. There were only six demos but five of them were very good. Some people have complained on 3LE beating TBL but I think that it's fair because 3LE's demo was more odd than TBL's. Other good demos was Balance's, Subspace's and C-Lous'.

I liked Icing '96, it was a great party. I think I have to quote myself from other party reports (boring, eh?): Visit Icing '97!
