INTRODUCTION:
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ

Summer Encounter is the danish demoscene party of 1996.

Summer Encounter is a purely non-commercial party, organized for
the gathering of all demoscene freaks, primarily from Denmark and
    the surrounding countries.

The prices might not be incredible high, but atleast no company
or organizers are making any profit from it either. We wont try
to hide that this is not a huge and incredible party, but we are
certain that we are going to have more fun than any other party! :)

Summer Encounter '96 will be held in a sportshall in the middle
of Jutland, Denmark in a town called Harridslev - this is just
    outside Randers.

    The party is held during:

                  Sunday 28th of July at 13:00 o'clock
                                   to
                Wednesday 31th of July at 13:00 o'clock

ATTENTION: Summer Encounter is a computer *festival* which means
that it's not just an ordinary computer party!
We have musical events, computer art display, sports
competitions and much more. To give Summer Encounter
                the *real* festival feeling, please:

                    BRING A TENT!
                    -------------

We want you all to bring a tent and make a tent city
for the quiet and cool nights! After all, the fresh
air and the quiet surroundings outdoor gives you the
                best sleep :-)

ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ

We have tried to keep the entrance fee as low as possible, but we
have a very tight budget. We'll have to charge you 100 DKr if you

that others will be charged extra, but we doubt it. It's completely
up to the ravers we hired for the job :)

HOW TO GET THERE:
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ

We assume everybody knows where Randers, Denmark is?!

    No? Get a life! :-)

It's in the middle of Jytland, on the east coast, aprox. 50 Km north
    of the big city Aarhus.

(You will be able to find it on any decent roadmap, without problems)

So we'll just give you directions from there. If you have trouble
getting here, you can use the blue X-busses or go by train.

At the moment we are trying to setup a party bus, going from Randers
to the party place on the first day, and back on the last. We will
setup signs at Randers bus- and railroad-station and announce it
publicly as soon as we know.

BUS:
----
If you get to Randers by bus, you will arrive at Randers bus
terminal. Here you can catch bus number 238 and then you have
to get of in Harridslev. Ask the driver to announce when he
arrives there. We will actually try and ask the bus company if
they can drive by the party place during SE96. If not, you'll
have to walk aprox. 400m to the party place.
We have included a map of Harridslev (MAP2.GIF), so you can
see which direction you're supposed to walk. We'll setup some
party signs too, so don't worry.

CAR:
----
People who will be joining us by car will have to take a look at
MAP1.GIF first, this is a road-map of the Randers area. It shows
how you get from Randers to Harridslev. When at Harridslev, look
    at MAP2.GIF for further directions.

TRAIN:
------
When you arrive at Randers train station, you will have to walk
aprox. 500m to the bridge. This is to the rigth when leaving the
train station's main entrance. From the bridge, you walk aprox.
100m to the left, where you will find the bus terminal.
    Please look at MAP2.GIF

FERRY:
------
If you come by ferry to Grenaa or Ebeltoft you will be arriving on
the main road 16/21 when you enter the town. It is quite easy when
you get off the ferry - you just follow the signs to Randers. From
Randers you follow the maps and the same roading directions as for
  travelling by car.

MAPS:
-----

This is a fast set of directions to go with the map files.

MAP1.GIF A map of Randers showing how to get from Randers
to Harridslev. The pink box in the right upper
                    corner is Harridslev
MAP2A.GIF A closeup of Haridslev, without any names, but with
                    the exact roadings, everything included.
Print this one out and use for reference.
MAP2B.GIF Drawing of the roads in Harridslev with roadnames.
Print this one out and use for reference.

ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
NETWORK INFORMATION:
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ

NOVELL NETWORK:
---------------

The party network server will consist of a Pentium 120 Mhz with
atleast 64MB RAM and about 4 GB harddisk space. The server will
be like a harddisk to you and we take no responsibility for what
you might put there (Non-PD, fish-porn and so on:).

The voting system will be running on the Novell network, we have
terminals with access, in case you don't have a netcard or a PC
    at the party place.

You will get the software needed when you arrive at the party.
Our net-software will by default be installed for the L: drive.
If you have more drives, you probably know how to change this :)

INTERNET:
---------

TeleDanmark Internet is sponsoring a full Internet connection for
Summer Encounter 1996. At the moment we are beating up TeleDanmark
for the ISDN connection, so we cannot yet tell you how fast this
connection will be. Most likely a 64K or 128K though.

We have a Unix server online, with full TCP/IP networking and a full
World Wide Web server running with the newest information available.

GENERAL:
--------

All you need is an Ethernet-card with a BNC connection and a length
of BNC cable. We will pull cables from the server to all of the tables.

We would appriciate it, if you didn't bring 20m of cabling, there's
a limit to how long such a cable can be you know.

As we experienced some quite interesting setups at The Party 5, we
would like to inform you that a T-connector *IS* required, the cables
cannot be plugged into the netcard itself! You should also be aware
that you CANNOT plug several T-connectors together in order to split
    the cables into two!

Any cabling and changes must be done by the netcrew, they will be
happy to do everything for you, so contact them if you want anything.
If you connect your table with another table, we will *BURN* you
very very slowly at the Bar-B-Q, and don't you doubt that! :)

You will be able to buy cheap netcards at the party place.

Questions regarding the network can be addressed to:
            Anders Eriksen, 2:238/143 (Shorty/SWAMP)
