for the Operation 3.D.F.X Contest for March '98.

Entry Description:

--------------------------------------------------------------

Venom Demo for Operation 3.D.F.X Contest

--------------------------------------------------------------

Program Description:

--------------------------------------------------------------

This demo utilizes the Venom engine, which supports real-time

lighting, lens flares, particle systems, alpha-blended polys,

.3ds file support, and animated textures among many other

over-used, over-hyped effects! Running time: around 7 minutes.

This demo has seven different scenes showcasing various effects.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Known Bugs and Issues:

--------------------------------------------------------------

Since this program uses Direct3D to access the 3d hardware,

it is likely that it will run on 3d cards other than 3dfx

with a proper Direct3D driver. I have coded the engine to

be as generic as possible with respect to which 3d card it

is running on. But, I have coded the engine to take

advantage of 3dfx hardware if it is detected.

It has been tested on the following boards:

	Diamond Monster 3D (Voodoo 4MB)

	Orchid Righteous 3D (Voodoo 4MB)

	STB Velocity 128 PCI (Riva128 4MB)

	STB Velocity 128 AGP (Riva128 4MB)

	3dLabs Permedia2 (Permedia2 8MB)

It has not been tested on VoodooRush, however, it should run fine

with the proper Rush Direct3D driver installed.

Since, I use DirectX 5.0, this demo will not work on NT 4.0. It

might work on NT 5.0 Beta due to the built-in DirectX 5.0 support.

On the Voodoo boards, it runs perfectly! But on non-3dfx

hardware, I limit the demo to run only in a window (if the card

supports it)...remember this demo was coded for 3dfx Voodoo cards.

I hope you enjoy this demo as much as I've enjoyed creating it!!!
