Everyone seems to hype about the "Advanced" Amigas nowadays... Please allow
us to inform you of the hard(ware) facts concerning the Amiga 1200. Did you
know, for instance, that both the Blitter and the Copper (the Amiga's most
important trumps) have not become ANY faster with regard to the "old"
Amiga...?! The new A.G.A. machines have got no 24-bits incarnation of the
old Copper. It is just the same one as in the standard Amiga. That is not
all... If you own an A.G.A. Amiga with a C.P.U. faster than the standard
68020 (like an A1230 or an A4000), the following phenomenon will occur: the
more bitplanes you use and the higher your resolution is, the slower your
Blitter will operate! The delay problems seem to commensurate with the speed
of your C.P.U...! These setbacks do not mean you can not do anything better
than before. The fireworks in the introduction of our previous demo ("Planet
Groove") show 8192 dots on screen simultaneously, in two bitplanes, together
with a logo in three bitplanes and a 24-bits color gradient in the background
(not to mention the music). The Planet Groove interludes calculate a
color-cycling high resolution picture in 256 colors. The "A Star is Born"
part contains a 128-sided Blitter polygon in five bitplanes and "My Fair Lady"
is a realtime manipulation of a full size low resolution picture. Finally,
"Phantom of the Opera" cross-fades two low resolution pictures of four
bitplanes each, in 256 different phases, while scrolling a high resolution
scrolltext with a color effect at the bottom of the overscan screen. The
whole demo runs in fifty frames per second on a standard Amiga 1200 and was
programmed without any specific A.G.A. hardware documentation in February
1993. It is the first "illegally" programmed A1200 demonstration in the
world. We hope this information will satisfy sceptics and specification
freaks. If you are interested in Team Hoi's audiovisual efforts (including
commercial games), please feel free to contact us at the following address:
Albrechtlaan 14, 1404 AK, Bussum, The Netherlands. Thank you for your kind
interest and we now invite you to enjoy this new production called "Mindwarp",
created in April and released in June 1993 (due to a hard-disc crash)...

greetings, dear reader! sit back and enjoy floating on the audiovisual waves
of team hoi's second advanced graphic architecture demonstration. allow your
mind to escape into a world where no sorrows exist. a utopian world of
aesthetic significance, where there is no need for negative emotions. imagine
playing the leading part in a dreamy faery tale, where your deepest fantasies
come true. you are in the heart of a huge forest. high above you, thin rays
of afternoon sunlight pierce through a dense roof of leaves. the thick air
intoxicates you with her sweet spring perfume as you walk along the side of a
small brooklet. you kneel down to get a taste of the clear water when you
suddenly notice your reflection is not the only one. small ripples interfere
a vague appearance on the other side of the brooklet. you look up, only to
discover a humanly shaped tree. you smile and reach for the water. then your
heart misses a beat when you feel a hand on your shoulder. you turn around
and are mesmerized at the sight of a beautiful young girl, barefooted and
dressed in a virginal white dress. a soft, warm spring breeze plays with her
long, glossy hair and her big, bright eyes look right through your soul. you
want to say something to her, but your tongue seems to be paralysed. her
fingers gently fondle your hair and your urge to speak slowly wanes. her love
makes you fly through endless cloudscapes, magically illuminated by the
gleaming moonlight. it is like a dream within a dream and you never want to
wake up again. or, even better, it is like waking up with the appeasing
thought that your amiga is waiting for you! welcome to another system
revolution by team hoi. you are watching the psychedelic procreations of the
one and only rhino, the funky tune was created by ramon and your host metin is
responsible for the painted elements. yes, dear audience, it was about time
to replace the badly written, egoistic bullshit in most demonstrations by
better written, less selfish bullshit. do you already own team hoi's other
gratis a.g.a. products? the hoisaga / planet groove demo is the world's
first ever complete system hack for the amiga 1200 and our iff converter aga
is the first aga iff conversion programme for the coders among us. speaking
of proggers: where are you, guys?! do you support commodore in their strive
to turn the new generation amigas into boring, system-oriented
office-machines?! come on and show the world that the amiga is an all-round
creative medium and no word processor or anything like that! you are right,
it is too bad the blitter and copper have not become any faster and the sound
hardware has not been revised as well, but this should only challenge our
creativity. we do have 16777216 colors, a 68020 cpu, improved sprites, a
variety of resolutions and two megabytes of chip ram to play around with!
dreams, dreams, dreams... please allow me to ask you, my friends, can we
enable our desires to inspire our destiny...? please tell me, is everything
we experience a product of our complicated mind...? what secrets are hidden
in the inaccessible area of our infinite spirit...? are we links in a divine
system or is 'god' just a reassuring chimera...? will technology
counterbalance all human deficiencies and eventually even replace mankind
completely...? heavy questions indeed. time will tell. in the mean time,
let us enjoy life while it lasts. let me recommend some classic international
cult movie titles for you to experience: crazy love (a belgian masterpiece),
le mari de la coiffeuse (a french gem) and kafka (a must for the gothic
romantic). do not forget to enjoy the movies with a few good beers. okay,
now it is time to test your knowledge of amiga software history... name the
amiga's very first music programme ever.......... the answer is: musicraft
(version 0.99), released in 1985. its subsequent incarnation is better known
as sonix (published by aegis). the next questions are aimed at the real amiga
games veteran: name the amiga's very first game ever.......... the answer
is: mindwalker, an unusual cult game with quite atmospheric music. prepare
yourself for the next question: the extremely skilled german development team
factor 5 (turrican ii) once had to modify their game because of a lawsuit from
activision. name the original title of the game.......... the answer is:
katakis, a well-executed but too obvious wink at the game r-type. the next
question is dedicated to all readers in the netherlands: name the most
legendary dutch losers ever (hint: they float on water!).......... the
courbois brothers of course! heavyweight champions and free software
exploiters. now let me adorn the last part of this moving message by quoting
my favourite maxims from friedrich nietzsche.......... 'the charm of
knowledge would be small if so much shame did not have to be overcome on the
road to it.' .......... 'one is most dishonest towards one's god: he is not
'permitted' to sin!' .......... 'the inclination to disparage himself, to let
himself be robbed, lied to and exploited, could be the self-effacement of a
god among men.' .......... 'love of one is a piece of barbarism: for it is
practised at the expense of all others. love of god likewise.' ..........
'if one has character one also has one's typical experience which recurs again
and again.' .......... 'he who attains his ideal by that very fact transcends
it.' .......... 'the degree and kind of a man's sexuality reaches up into the
topmost summit of his spirit.' .......... 'he who despises himself still
nonetheless respects himself as one who despises.' .......... 'a thing
explained is a thing we have no further concern with. what did that god mean
who counselled: 'know thyself!'?' .......... 'terrible experiences make one
wonder whether he who experiences them is not something terrible.' ..........
'heavy, melancholy people grow lighter through precisely that which makes
others heavy, through hatred and love, and for a while they rise to their
surface.' .......... 'mature manhood: that means to have rediscovered the
seriousness one had as a child at play.' .......... 'what? a great man? i
always see only the actor of his own ideal.' .......... 'to discover he is
loved in return ought really to disenchant the lover with the beloved.'
.......... 'our vanity is hardest to wound precisely when our pride has just
been wounded.' .......... 'you want to make him interested in you? then
pretend to be embarassed in his presence.' .......... 'the tremendous
expectation in regard to sexual love and the shame involved in this
expectation distorts all a woman's perspectives from the start.' ..........
'where neither love nor hate is in the game a woman is a mediocre player.'
.......... 'the great epochs of our life are the occasions where we gain the
courage to rebaptize our evil qualities as our best qualities.' ..........
'the will to overcome an emotion is ultimately only the will of another
emotion or of several others.' .......... 'there is an innocence in
admiration: he has it to whom it has not yet occurred that he too could one
day be admired.' .......... 'sensuality often makes love grow too quickly, so
that the root remains weak and is easy to pull out.' .......... 'the more
abstract the truth you want to teach the more you must seduce the senses to
it.' .......... 'what we do in dreams we also do when we are awake: we invent
and fabricate the person with whom we associate - and immediately forget we
have done so.' .......... 'that which is done out of love always takes place
beyond good and evil.' .......... 'the sense of the tragic increases and
diminishes with sensuality.' .......... 'the thought of suicide is a powerful
solace: by means of it one gets through many a bad night.' .......... 'one no
longer loves one's knowledge enough when one has communicated it.' ..........
'poets behave impudently towards their experiences: they exploit them.'
.......... 'to talk about oneself a great deal can also be a means of
concealing oneself.' .......... 'ultimately one loves one's desires and not
that which is desired.' .......... 'there is an innocence in lying which is
the sign of good faith in a cause.' ....................
