Welcome to the very first issue of 'Liquidation', the brand new
chippack from 'Liquid Skies Records'. Since this label was born, we
wanted to make a small production for all those guys, who doesn`t
like multichannel or mp3 stuff only, but prefer good, old
chipmodules instead of 64 channel modules.
'Why another chippack?' - someone might ask. Well, does anybody
still know what a chippack is? I guess not! At least not really,
as there are only a few chippacks alive. The good, old 'Save Da
Vinyl' revived by Mawi seems to be the only one. But note that it
isn't released regulary anymore. Also Azzaro is oriented on other
kinds of music than real chiptunes. (A 188kb tune is simply not a
chiptune, even if it includes some beeps!) Also Kempy's 'Embrion'
hasn't been released since nearly a year.
Where have all those packs like 'Chip`o`matic', 'ChipChop', 'World
Of Chips', 'Chip In Paris', 'Fish & Chips', 'Digital Chips' or
'Mysterious Chips' gone? Is chipmusic not common anymore? Did the
scene turn to multichannel maniacs? Some of us already behave like
PeeCeee-users and prefer to hear modules which sound like commercial
techno only. It's sad but true...
Where have all the THXers (respectively AHXers), SID-makers and
protracker-chipmakers gone? We all know that nobody wrote so good
tunes like Pink, but hey, there were a lot of talented and active
musicians composing on this great synthtracker by Abyss. Have all of
them gone? Or did they become multichannel makers?
Chiptunes always made me feel nice. I loved to listen tiny chippies
by great scene artists. That kind of music is so cute and
optimistic and it motivates me for more scene activities. But why
are there no chipmusicians left??? Why...
'Liquid Skies' didn`t find the answers, but we are active and we
want to break the silence! So here we come with a new chippack,
released as a special series under 'Liquid Skies Records'. If no
other music label want to give chiplovers what they love, we do it.
This production is made for your pleasure and also to give all of
you chipmakers out there a chance to show your chiptunes to the
scene people. So you are welcome to send any feedback and support
to the addies given below. Send your beeps as THX, MOD, PSID or
even MED & DIGI, but think of the size first! ;)
As you can see this little chippack is different to others. We
decided that the old slogan 'do different' isn't already dead and we
made something new. We hope you like it!
