MOTION IS BACK WITH A TELETEXT PIECE BY THE BLOCK ARTISTE KNOWN AS DAN FARRIMOND AKA % ILLARTERATE OF MISTIGRIS % AND ON MUSIC WE HAVE % ROB HUBBARD % WITH HIS C64 ARRANGEMENT OF JEAN-MICHEL JARRE'S % ZOOLOOOK % ALONG WITH ROB'S MAGNIFICENT COMPOSITIONS FOR SHOCKWAY RIDER, SABOTEUR II, SIGMA SEVEN, PANDORA, GERRY THE GERM, FORMULA 1 SIMULATOR, ONE MAN AND HIS DROID, COMMANDO AND THING ON A SPRING. USE KEYS 1-0 TO SELECT TRACKS OR 'SPACE' (GOD FORBID!) TO STOP THE MUSIC. SO, WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING IN MOTION'S WORLD RECENTLY? LOT'S OF NOSTALGIA, THAT'S WHAT! I'VE BEEN ENJOYING SETTING UP MY SONY AUDIO SEPARATES. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A NICE TWIN CASSETTE DECK TO COMPLETE THE STACK. THIS HAS ENABLED ME TO EXAMINE SOME OLD C64 TAPES AND EVEN SOME AUDIO TAPES, WHICH TO MY SURPRISE, I DISCOVERED THAT SOME OF THEM HAD DATA, TOO. I FOUND SOME OLD CHARACTER SETS THAT I'D DRAWN ON PAPER AND THEN TYPED THE DATA INTO BASIC. I ALSO FOUND A CUSTOM NOTER I'D WRITTEN WITH REDEFINED CHARACTER GRAPHICS WITH A HUGE LOGO AND MESSAGES TO OLD FRIENDS, LISTING WHAT NEW SOFTWARE I'D ACQUIRED. I WAS 17 WHEN I WROTE THAT. OH THE MEMORIES. I'VE BACKED THEM UP ONTO DISK FOR (I HOPE!) SAFE KEEPING. NOW, ALL THIS RETRO RETRIEVAL STIMULATED ME TO LOOK FOR MORE TAPES ...SADLY, THIS WASN'T TO BE. THEY'VE EITHER BEEN LOST BY THE SHIPPING COMPANY ON THE WAY BACK TO THE UK FROM NEW ZEALAND, OR THEY NEVER LEFT UK SHORES IN THE FIRST PLACE. I SUSPECT THEY WERE STILL IN STORAGE AT MY PARENTS HOME AND SADLY CHUCKED AWAY BY MY OLDER SIBLINGS AFTER MY PARENTS PASSED AWAY. ALONG WITH A NICE CBM 1520 4 COLOUR PRINTER PLOTTER! OH WELL, THESE THINGS HAPPEN..... WHAT DID STING A LITTLE, WAS THE FACT THAT ONE OF THOSE TAPES FROM 1986, CONTAINED MY FIRST EXPOSURE TO COMPUNET DEMOS AND GOT ME INTO THIS SCENE THING TO BEGIN WITH. LUCKILY, I COULD REMEMBER THE MAJORITY, IF NOT ALL OF THE DEMOS ON THAT TAPE. THE DEMOS ARE READILY AVAILABLE ONLINE, BUT HAVING THEM ON THE ORIGINAL TAPE WOULD BE % SO % MUCH MORE SATISFYING, AM I RIGHT? WHEN I FINISH TYPING THIS SCROLL TEXT, I'VE GOT A NEW BELT TO FIT ON MY YAMAHA NATURAL SOUND YP-211 TURNTABLE, ALONG WITH A NEW CARTRIDGE AND STYLUS AND THE JOYS OF ALIGNING IT. ANOTHER DISTRACTION RECENTLY WAS THE TEENSYROM CARTRIDGE THAT WAS SENT TO ME BY PAV (EX-VISION FACTORY). AFTER A YEAR SITTING IN A BOX, I FOUND THE TIME AND INTEREST TO SEE WHAT IT WAS ABOUT AND TO MY SURPRISE, IT WAS VERY EASY TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE. IT CAN BE DONE VIA ETHERNET AND A BUILT IN TERMINAL CLIENT OR MERELY VIA A BINARY STORED ON AN SDCARD, WHICH IS THE ROUTE I CHOSE. ODDLY, IT TOOK 3 ATTEMPTS TO APPLY IT (IT REBOOTED TWICE WITH NO CHANGE). I CAN NOW VIEW INSIDE .D64 IMAGES, BUT IT WON'T ALLOW MULTI-FILE DEMOS TO RUN. I IMAGINE THIS WILL BE ADDRESSED IN TIME. IT CERTAINLY HAS MADE USING MY C64'S A LITTLE EASIER, OTHER THAN ACCESSING .T64 FILES, AS IT CURRENTLY DOESN'T SUPPORT THOSE (SO I HAVE TO CONVERT THEM TO A .PRG). OK, I'LL LEAVE IT THERE, AS THIS PACK HAS BEEN DELAYED BY ALMOST 3 WEEKS! TOODLE PIP! ...IT'S A WRAP (DO YOU WANT SAUCE WITH THAT?) ...MAKE IT RANCH. SEE YA!
