ROYAL IS BACK.
With Jackal WIP second demo version
Release in 2021 by NeesoGames
Jackal, also distributed under the title of Top Gunner, is an overhead
run'n gun-style shoot-'em-up video game by Konami released for the arcades
in 1986. The player must maneuver an armed jeep in order to rescue
prisoners of war (POWs) trapped in enemy territory.
Jackal was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) on
September 1988 in North America.
This project attempts to port the NES version with some graphical
improvements on the Amiga (OCS-ECS) platform as our entry for
#AmiGameJam 2021
UPDATE 1-11-2021 - 3rd demo version available for you to download and play.
A lot has changed since v2!
MENU, SCREENS ETC:
-Fully working menu including intro with music
(wait 7 seconds to see the intro)
-updated credits
-2 mission complete screens
(depends on the powerup you have at the end of the level)
-mission results screen
-loading indicator
-updated music (THANKS JMD!)
IN GAME:
-fixed collisions with rocks
-tileset dept (can drive behind palms or walls)
-animated shooting turrets
-all powerups implemented
('nade > missile > side explosions > cross explosions)
-deploy pows to copter
-complete basic boss fight (still a bit buggy but fully playable)
-a lot of optimizations and bug fixes
STILL MISSING BUT MOSTLY COSMETIC:
-proper score/highscore calculation and display
-regular pows
-copter fly away when all pows are saved
UPDATE 17-9-2021 - Second demo version.
It's a very WIP version so don't expect too much from it!
New Features:
fixed jeep movement and collisions
added jeep skidmarks
secondary weapons mapped to joystick button 2
added rescueing powerup prisoner
implemented player death and respawn with weapon reset
added wip mission start music
added secret bonus (+1 life, same position as on the NES)
some graphical improvements
...and more!
Still a bit buggy and still no boss fight but enjoyable.
As usual playable in both UAE and real Amiga (OCS-ECS-AGA,
works better on expanded machines).
