English Translation
Turboraketti is a space dogfight game for the Amiga,
created by Finnish Heikki Kosola.
There are many misleading information about the release year
of the game and its sequel. According to Kosola, he created
the beta version of Turboraketti in 1992 and the final
version in 1993. Some people thought the final version was
the sequel, but Kosola claims there was never a
Turboraketti II.
In 2023, Rixa offers us a translated version in English.
Turboraketti is played with two people who compete using spaceships.
The game is similar to an earlier game called Gravity Force.
The vessels are viewed from the side and gravity pulls them down.
The screen is divided into two halves vertically.
Both players have half the screen. Hitting a landscape or
another ship destroys the ship. The motion of vessels
is affected by their thrust, gravity, and drag in air and liquids.
Players can choose from different weapons that are advantageous
in different situations. Rapid-fire weapons allow you to cause at
least some damage to the opponent and non-rapid-fire weapons
allow you to hit the nearby opponent hard. Players can load
weapons and fuel onto their base platforms.
The basic platform can also repair a ship. The player has to
compromise between good acceleration (low mass) and the amount
of ammo and fuel loaded. It is also possible to play the
game as a race against time.
