Gameboy Advance Console World Charts for November 1 - November 31, 2001
                 Issue Number 6, Released December 1st, 2001

                           Staff: ennay & loaded

Featuring Guest Commentary by: Acill / Lightforce!

.- Introduction ------------------------------------------------------------.

Can you actually believe it? A Console World issue that is actually on
time? Well, I couldn't do it all by myself, and that's why I've allowed
loaded to become a full time staff member here at Console World. I'm sure
some people will protest to this (especially after seeing all of the lovely
arguements going on in the #gbc channel) I think loaded will do a good job
at keeping track of the release points which has made my life A LOT easier.

November was the busiest month for the GBA scene so far. There were plenty
of great releases and lots of competition. As with last month, there wasn't
a single group that dominated everything which is good.

In addition, Acill / Lightforce will be commenting this month. I think it's
about time that Lightforce had some representation in Console World and
they've been doing great on the USA front of GBA releases.

Enough jibber jabber, let the charts BEGIN!

 - ennay

loaded: I'd like to thank ennay for awarding me a staff position on
Console World, I will do my best to live up the quality that
these charts have maintained in the years past. I will attempt
to ensure that each issue is released as quickly as possible.

November has been the most exciting month for the Game Boy Advance
yet. With the holidays looming, there's plenty of games to go
around, some good, some bad, and some that must be checked out.
Some of the best titles this month include Golden Sun, Gradius
Advance, as well as the countless aggressive sports titles by
         Activision.

The scene definitely saw an increase in activity, with four groups
getting close to thirty points. Eurasia and Mode7 continued to
dominate as they have in months past, but Lightforce and Venom
certainly gave them a run for their money. Lightforce did quite
well during the middle of the month, and near the close of November
Venom did an exceptional job. December will surely bring a large
amount of new games, so it will be interesting to see what will
happen in the weeks to come.

         Let the charts begin!

Acill: Its good to be writing this month. There have been some great
releases releases this month. The groups all put out some huge
titles, and the top groups even had to work extra hard to stay
where they are! Another great month.

 RULES & POINTS
 --------------

-1 Point - DUPE: Released a game, but only after another group already beat
             you? -1 point then.

DUPE TRAINER: A Late Trainer with the same or less options.

BROKEN: If you release a game/trainer/crack that doesn't work,
             -1 time!

+0 Points - BETA: Beta releases are cool to check out, but they are not
the real deal. No points are given or taken for these.

TERRITORY DUPE: If a game is released in Europe first and
contains English, then a following USA release is considered
a territory dupe. If a game is released in the USA first,
and it releases later in Europe with no additional languages,
it is also considered a territory dupe. Games that have
additional game features/levels/etc. added are void from
territory dupe rules. Only Roms that contain differences
when file compared fit into the territory dupe category,
if a Rom is the exact same in 2 territories, it fits into
the -1 dupe category. Territory dupes receive 0 points.

FIX: A non-protection related fix for a released game gets 0
             points.

EEPROM FIX: A fix for games containing EEPROM saves, to
allow the game to run without EEPROM saving on the
current GBA copiers. These get 1 point for now, they
will get 0 once flash-carts featuring EEPROM saving
             become more mainstream.

+1 Point - TRAINER: Any selectable trainer including a menu receives
             1 point.

MULTI: A European Multi Language release of a previously
             available US title.

             FOREIGN: A German/French/Spanish/Etc. release of a
             previously available English title.

TOOL: A tool for the PC that is useful for Gameboy
             Advance purposes gets 1 point.

+2 Points - AVERAGE JAPANESE: An average Japanese game. Most RPGs,
Mahjong titles, Slot games, Sims, Adventures, etc. will be
put into this category. These receive 2 points.

FOREIGN WORLD FIRST: If a German/French/Spanish/Etc. game
is out before the English version, it gets 2 points.

CRACK: A crack for a protected/non-working game gets you 2
             points.

+3 Points - ENGLISH WORLD FIRST: The first release of a game in English.
This is generally the first release of the game available,
either in Europe or the USA. These receive 3 points.

QUALITY FOREIGN: A quality foreign title that is either
highly awaited or playable will receive 3 points. Generally
games from major companies due out for release later
in English will fit into this category. Most action games,
fighting games, etc. will also fall under this category.

TRANSLATION: Translating a non-English game to English =
3 points. The points reflect the major amount of work this
             requires!

+4 Points - MAJOR: Usually the best/most-anticipated game of the month.

ennay: It's the typical stuff that you would expect from Cezar. EZ Talk
games are interesting because they are the first 128Mbit ones out
there. I haven't flashed them myself, but I'm sure to expect some
bigger titles next year. Maybe it's time to consider getting a
256 cart? Naw I'd rather save up for a Gamecube or something.

loaded: Cezar had its best month yet, with a few Japanese titles that might
interest someone. As you may have noticed when you downloaded the
two EZ-Talk games, the size relative to other games is quite large.
We can only speculate when mainstream games will have this size, but
I'd say before the end of next year, a company like Nintendo may
         release a game that large.

Acill: Not a bad month for Cezar, more of the usual dupe import stuff gets
them a few points. The Jap stuff was unplayable for me, but
        interesting to see.

ennay: Another great month for the folks in Eurasia. What's even more
suprising is that they have more European & USA titles than
Japanese. I especially enjoyed International Superstar Soccer, it
reminded me of the amazing Perfect Eleven series on the SNES.

loaded: Eurasia won by an ever so close margin, beating Mode7 and company
by under ten points. They were able to release have their titles
weeks before release date, including the long awaited Gradius
Advance. Its gameplay is more of the same great side scrolling
action. Bust A Move is always a fun title, and if soccer is your
thing, ISS is probably the best game available for the handheld
in this genre. Mech Platoon is supposedly a war simulation much
like Golden Sun, so that might be worth checking out. Overall,
Eurasia had a very successful month with many titles that are
         worth checking out.

Acill: Eurasia puts on an awsome show this month with a huge collecting of
top releases. I loved the old Gradius games on the NES so that title
was a must have for me. Gadget racers is a fun title as well and is
         worth the flash!

loaded: A few straggling games that no one really cares about...

ennay: November was definitely the strongest month for Lightforce, these
guys managed to release some great USA titles along with their
trainer for Bomberman. My respect to these guys!

loaded: The group we thought died a few months ago proved there is still
plenty of life in their bones. They had a very solid showing on
the USA front, with such great titles as Mat Hoffman and Madden
2002. I suppose if your a sucker for gimmics, Harry Potter may
be worth playing. The Japanese supplies were nonexistant, and
the European side, an area that Lightforce can excel, did not
keep pace with their USA team. In any case, a very nice showing
from Lightforce; I'm sure they'll be releasing some great stuff
in the weeks and months to come.

Acill: Lightforce allways puts out a few good titles each month. We saw
some serious action from them this month. They finaly get some
awsome USA titles out. I would say this has been there biggest
month of the year. A few titles were overdumped, but were fully
working releases. Matt Hoffman's is a must Play title.

ennay: A definite slowdown for Menace. Shaun Palmer's was a nice release.
On a brighter note, it seems that their efnet irc channel is now
back open to the public. Perhaps this is an indication of better
         things to come?

loaded: The group that completely dominated the N64 and GBC scenes in years
past managed to grab two titles. Somehow, I believe if they were
trying to dominate this scene, it would certainly be within their
reach. Nice work on bringing the N64 to a close and thanks for the
         years of exceptional releases.

Acill: Is it just me or has Menace started to loose interest? They pull out
two decent titles this month. I tried both of these and like the
Shaun Paulmer game, but am sick of all the Pokemon type monster
games so I only loaded it for a quick test and look.

ennay: A strong beginning of the month for Mode7, scoring two majors. The
first with Wario Land 4 and then with Golden Sun. Everyone pretty
much agreed that Golden Sun deserved to be the Game of the Month, so
please don't think there's some sort of bias here. *g*

I personally enjoyed Ecks Vs. Sever, this 1st person shooter destroys
the outdated Doom. Overall, another strong month for Mode7.

loaded: Mode 7 fell just short of taking victory this month, however their
releases certainly were quite strong. They started off the month
with Wario Land 4, several weeks in advance, however since the
Japanese title was very playable, most guys have played it
extensively in the past. Their next release, Golden Sun, received
the game of the month, because it just plain kicks ass. Mode 7
continued to do quite well throughout the rest of the month,
and I'm sure they will continue to.

Acill: The boys from Mode7 pull out there usual big titles with Golden Sun
being by far the biggest release of the month. These guys just
         never seem to slow down.

ennay: Who knows if this is beta or not. Good work I suppose!

loaded: A nice early release, is it final? a beta? who cares, it's Donald
         Duck!

Acill: Look like Paracox put out one this month, its an okay game, but
nothing to rush out and try. No beta releases this month?

ennay: Mainly trainers this time around for the folks at Quartex, the one
trainer Donald Duck advance was broken and it took them 4 days to
         fix it.

loaded: This certainly wasn't Quartex's best month, but they certainly
were busy training games. After receiving flack for the Donald
Duck trainer, it was retrained to perfection. The one Japanese
title they managed to grab is a nice cartoonish soccer game
that might be worth checking out.

Acill: Not a bad month for these guys. Some good trainers out. Nice to see
the Donald Duck one come back fixed with one extra option.

announced their retirement. I guess I was wrong. Lady Sia still

ennay: An overall great mix of releases and trainers for Venom this month.
November really marks the beginning of their trainer consistency. A
fixed trainer for Doom finally got released (only after 6 days)

I personally enjoyed International Karate Advance, the game is
pretty much an update to the oldschool Karate Champ that was in
         the arcades.

loaded: Venom had a great month, showing that they can contend with Mode 7
and Eurasia. Games worth checking out include Dave Mirra, and
Robot Wars. Beyond the games, they had a great month in their
training department with seven quality trainers.

Acill: Venom puts out good releases month after month. I would say these
guys have shown that a new group can make a big mark on this small
scene of ours. I thought for sure Lightforce was going to take the
number three spot this month and BAM! Venom gets out some big
titles at the end. Great job guys.

.- Conclusion -------------------------------------------------------------.

ennay: So here comes another end to Console World. It's been especially
easy for me this month since loaded was the one handling the points
(feel free to blame him if there are points missing or mistakes)

It's also nice to have these charts being released actually on
schedule. Once I'm a day late, I get flooded with private messages
asking about the charts. I guess the scene does have more worthy
people than the average "Do you have release number XXXX" rom
collecting chimp! That's all for now. See everyone NEXT YEAR!

loaded: For the Game Boy Advance's first true Christmas month, there were
many great releases. Scene competition was at its best, with many
great teams doing great work. I personally look forward to
December, with great titles like Mario Advance 2, Sonic, Tekken,
and King of Fighters coming out in Japan. Breath of Fire is due
in Europe and USA, which will certainly please individuals who
enjoyed it several years ago. Other than that, thanks for reading
and I'll see you in a month!

Acill: Well one more month of the year gone. Its been a huge year for
the GBA. I am looking forward to next month. Its allways been a
huge release month. I'm sure the scene will have a lot of work to
do if they want to stay on top. I hope you have a good holiday.

.- Greetings & What We're Playing Currently -------------------------------.

 ennay - Currently Playing:

 - Metal Gear Solid II / PS2 - YES! I'm still playing this game. This game
still rocks. I've already beaten the game
twice and managed to get the stealth suit &
                               infinite ammo. Long live Kojima-San!

 - Super Mario 3 (NES) / GBA - I'm playing this using Pocketnes. A really
cool emulator for the GBA. The sound needs
a bit of improvement, but otherwise, the game
play is all there. Feels just like the old
                               NES days. Hurray.

Greets to: This is going to be a more personal greet, and that is to everyone
in the Mode7 crew along with the other groups that I've been in
for the past 3 years. Always been excellent working with a bunch
of great people where everyone contributes.

 - Metal Gear Solid II / PS2 - I'll have to concur with ennay's previous
comments about this game. It kept me playing
for hours and the ending made it worth every
                               minute.

Greets to : Everyone in Eurasia, and all guys trying to make the scene
             better by doing great work.

 Acill - Currently Playing:

 - Tennis 2k2 / DC - I was waiting for this title all year. Its a great game
and probably the last great one for this system. Its a
shame they didnt add any online play with it.

 - Metal Gear Solid II / PS2 - I agree as well. This has to be one of THE best
games of the year. Its just an awsome title and
I even went out and bought it! Go do the same!

Greets to : Rotox - wheres my ascii?
