Ah charts time again and this time I see it's charts #6, which means this
has been half a year of charts! Going through all these GBC releases has
been fun, although I haven't loaded every single one that has been gone
over in the past. This month, I loaded every game, trainer, and patch
(besides V1 bung card patches) to check everything out.

This month, I noticed Capital has a new intro they put on GTA and Carmageddon
which is logos moving horizontally and changing colors behind a text that is
going around in a large circle on the screen with a scroller underneath.
Also, CPL has used a few different trainer menus in their trainers. This
is all good because it gives a variety of demos from CPL during this month :)

Anyways, on to the games. I thought GTA was the most anticipated game of the
month, but on a GBC, it just lacks too much (well, the original version of
the game wasn't the greatest of graphics either, but strip it down any more
and there isn't much left). Still, I think this can be somewhat enjoyable
on a handheld system. Carmageddon appears to give better graphic appeal,
but not completely the same style of game as the original. So the best game
here is Mario Golf. I believe I've commented on the Japanese one already
so to make it short, this game is the one to play :)

 - Amptor/Oldskool

As usual Capital releases 8 trainers...can't someone else train games?
They also released the 3 best games. Specially Grand Theft Auto what a great game.
There weren't many games released by them but as usual they release the best
 trainers...ooops only trainers!

 - Skates/Independent

What can i say Capital does it again with a good month of quality trainers
and three releases, including the rather nice Mario Golf - which gets game
of the month, GTA makes it to the gameboy with quite a nice conversion.
But i am undecided about Carmageddon...
Also kick ass intro on both GTA and Carmageddon, good work Wayne Kerr.

 - Thallium/Independent

Well, a decent October for CPL - mainly due to ^TuFF's contribution on the
training side of things. A very welcome addition to the ranks! 3 games
released this month too, 2 of which are excellent and 1 of which sucks.
I'll leave you to figure out which :) Overall it's nice to see someone
break the Menace monopoly on the top of the charts, even if I am biased :)

Ah hadn't noticed that Eurasia only came up with one release this month.
Well, this is a good game I'm sure, although I can't read a damn thing
in it! *cough*japcrap*cough* Well hopefully they will port it to the
English language, but like many other good RPG's, I doubt that will happen.

 - Amptor/Oldskool

What an off month for EURASIA. They release one game and its Jap Shit.
Its unplayable since it is in Japanese. Why do they keep releasing this shit?

 - Skates/Independent

Probably a good rpg from konami, only i don't read japanese text too well.

 - Thallium/Independent

Again, just when you think EUR will finish the month with 0 points, they
manage to release something in the nick of time! A good-looking RPG from
Konami, which unfortunately is completely unplayable to non-Jap speakers.
Not much for several months now, only time will tell if EUR have anything
to offer as we get steadily closer to the end of the Millenium...

Hmm..more independant releases. I see Kel hasn't been grabbed up by a group
yet (well at least as far as I know right now). His release of B&TB is a
pretty good board game (I usually hate board games, yech). But this one
has mini games built in, a bit like Game and Watch Gallery type stuff
(like the bouncing log game) I also played a shooting gallery in this, which
was way too easy. Well, both of these are to be shelved in my opinion,
although they can offer a small amount of entertainment.

 - Amptor/Oldskool

I have not gotten to play these games very much but from what
I hear they are pretty good. Atleast the Independents are releasing
 some good stuff.

Beauty and the Beast is a board game on GBC, and 3 Lions is the same as
Golden Goal, released ages ago by PDX. Still a valid release with new
title screen gfx, but nothing to shout about...

Ah..more quality releases from Menace :) The first of these I tried was
Madden 2000. It's an ok game, but I still prefer the simplicity and fast
action of NFL Blitz since I'm not a huge sports game fan.

I was highly skeptical of Space Invaders, as the original was a horrible game.
It looks like the new trend is to improve classic titles now, which is
incredibly obvious in this title. Now, with power ups side shooting weapons,
and, amazingly, improved graphics, Space Invaders is a very enjoyable game :)
 Good work on this release.

Classic Bubble Bobble I thought was going to be pretty good, since Taito
did a decent job on previous b&w versions. This turned out to be so, but
compared to the original NES version (which I thought this was probably
going to be a port of), it lacks a few things from the beginning (like
different prizes appearing..I only saw bunches of grapes) But overall
 it's a pretty fun game.

Not much to be said about Sylvania Family, but Tom and Jerry is an allright
game. It's another side scroller with very little graphic appeal, but I
didn't find anything too annoying about it besides that.

 - Amptor/Oldskool

Menace had a pretty good month. They release the best football game ever made,
Madden 2000. Space Invaders was an "OK" remake could have been better! I have
not played Bubble Bobble very much but from what I see in the first couple of
stages it sucks compared to the NES version. Keep up the good work guys!

 - Skates/Independent

The Menace Machine is wheeled out again with a month of good gameboy releases
added to the menace catalogue, a mighty force to be dealt with as they are
soon to dominate both the n64 and gb scene, but only time will tell...

 - Thallium/Independent

Some nice releases from MNC this month, especially Space Invaders which was
a surprisingly good conversion to handheld. Bubble Bobble was also quite
good, certainly better than Tom+Jerry! The only blight on an otherwise
quality month was the release of a "jap-crap" title, Sylvania Family.
Expect Menace to be back dominating the charts next month though...

Another +2 from Nightfall. Good work and I see you got this out before CPL
as usual. It's interesting that two groups release trainers for the same
 game so often.

 - Amptor/Oldskool

I have not played this game so I can't really tell you how good it is.
Nightfall put on a week show this month with only 1 release. Will we see
 more than that in November?

 - Skates/Independent

Nice to see someone else making the effort to do trainers for the gameboy!

 - Thallium/Independent

Only one trainer from NFL this month, although it did contain the best name
for a trainer-option I've ever seen ("Big Bear Jump"), hehe!
I expect NFL to release more trainers, as the xmas-games rush means there
will be too many for one group alone to train...

I'm not a big fan of Sesame St. but I guess Thallium might be because he
trained this one :) As I recall, CPL usually only trains games that they
like :P Well, the same thing goes for Rugrats, but this game has better
graphics and animation than Elmo. Good job on these releases Duz :)

Front Row is another F-1 game. Interstingly, this is a Japanese game with
all English text in it. Pretty cool just for that. Looks like no Japcrap
from OS this month eh :)

 - Amptor/Oldskool

Holy Shit! What's this? Two INT releases by Oldskool in the same month?
Ahh to bad they had to release a Jap Shit game. Well I hope they keep up
 these INT releases in November.

 - Skates/Independent

Oldskool with some nice english releases (and the one jap one).
Elmo's gonna rock you with his 2d/platform/type mayhem, who ever programmed
this game certainly dabbled with acid judging by the floaty level bit!

 - Thallium/Independent

Old Skool surprised many with a couple of US releases this month, courtesy
of new member Duz...We shall see if this addition to their ranks can keep
pumping out the new USA releases, but OS certainly made a decent showing in
 October - completely jap-crap-less :)

All I can say is Germany releases some strange games. Good thing they're
usually playable though :) What's weird about this one is you move around
a small blue elephant and a larger creature to solve getting out of each
 screen's obstacles. Interesting game.

 - Amptor/Oldskool

I have not gotten a chance to play this game. But why only one release
by Paradox? They have so many warez releases a month...to bad they can't
release as many GBC games as PC and PSX games!

 - Skates/Independent

A nice 3d isometric game from PDX, not quite Head over Heels though..

 - Thallium/Independent

This game really kicks ass...it was a real surprise to see this one come
from PDX, but a welcome one! The game is very like "Head over Heels" by
Ocean from the 8-bit (home-computer!) days...a nice release, but again a
 fairly quiet month from PDX.

This is the first release of Carmageddon of the month, as well as the first
one I tried out. It's the same as the US version, except the menus are in
German. Good to see Quasar is still putting out some competition :)

 - Amptor/Oldskool

I am not German so I didn't play this game. But the English version is
great. I give them credit for appealing to the Germans. Well atleast
Quasar is back with a release!

 - Skates/Independent

 No comment given!

 - Thallium/Independent

Quasar sneak into the charts this month with the German release of this
popular racing game...the GBC conversion is truly awful, but that's not
really QSR's fault so we'll give them the points :) Maybe we'll see QSR
again during November, with some quality Euro-releases...

Good work. I can't tell if it works because I don't play Japanese RPG's
though. Maybe we can hope for an English release and these guys can fix it
 if necessary.

 - Amptor/Oldskool

I have not tried this patch, but atleast someone else is patching games
besides CPL! Keep up the good work guys...I hope its good work!

I wasn't even aware this one needed a crack/fix, as I couldn't play it due
to the fact I don't speak Japanese...still, for our readers in .jp, I'm sure
they can make use of it.

 SUMMARY
 -------

So, October is over. Lots of good games, especially near the tail-end of
the month, and things going pretty much as predicted last month.
We return to the fabled GBC chart crystal ball, for the November
 predictions:-

Menace & Capital will dominate the charts.
Capital will train several games, followed By Nightfall and perhaps even
 some others...
More Jap-crap releases than William Shatner has hairpieces.

Once again, will these predictions prove foolish, or will my soothsaying
abilities fail me? Stay tuned faithful readers...

                                                                - Wayne Kerr

Note from editor: I'm finding it hard to find people willing to comment in
the Charts and without comments from people it makes my
life harder and sometimes makes me think is doing them
really worth it.. So please anyone what's into the gbc
scene and would like to help comment let me know.
