 INTRODUCTION
 ------------

Sorry for the slight delay but here they are...the September GBC charts.
GBC? Yep, no longer will GB/SGB releases be listed, even for posterity...
things move on, and there is no need to waste Rotox's precious time
including ancient games when there are better things we could be doing :)
No great loss, they didn't receive a score anyway so it's something that
I doubt we'll hear too many complaints about. And now, without further ado
 - the charts...

                                                                - Wayne Kerr

 `--------------------------------------------------------------------------'

 RULES & POINTS
 --------------

-1 Point - DUPE: Released a game, but only after another group already beat
             you? -1 point then.
DUPE TRAINER: A Late Trainer with the same or less options.
BROKEN: If you release a game/trainer/crack that doesn't work,
             -1 time!

+0 Points - NON-COLOR: Mono GB or SGB games are listed for posterity, but
             receive no points. Similarly, a trainer/crack for a GB/SGB-only
             game will receive 0 points.
FIX: You get 0 points for fixing one of your own mistakes.

 +1 Point - AVERAGE TRAINER: +1, +2, +3, +4 trainer receives 1 point.

+2 Points - AVERAGE FOREIGN: Foreign (non-English) games receive 2 points,
even if the game has previously been released in another
             language. JAP/GER/FRA/SPA, whatever.
A European release of a previously available US release will
             also receive 2 points.
QUALITY TRAINER: A +5 or above trainer will receive 2 points.
CRACK: A crack for a protected/non-working game gets you 2
             points.

+3 Points - INT: An English-language release of a game will receive 3
             points.
QUALITY FOREIGN: A Foreign (non-English) game that is 100%
             playable.
TRANSLATION: Translating a non-English game to English =
3 points. The points reflect the major amount of work this
             requires!

+4 Points - MAJOR: Usually the best/most-anticipated game of the month.

It seems like Duke Nukem was the second major release of the month. I haven't
played the original in so long that I don't know if it is anything like this
one, other than being a side scroller. As I recall, the original PC version
was a lot more fun though.

Great to see this group releasing games and trainers. Also, good work on
the Motorcross Madness 2 trainer. I wasn't expecting one to come out for
 that game.

 - Amptor/Oldskool

With a new US member, CPL had more releases than usual. Antz was a nice
platformer and the same can be said of Duke Nukem. The bad out of the 3
games was Spawn which was an unusually bad game from Konami. Besides that
there were a bunch of trainers as usual. Hope to see more US games ;)

 - Rza/Menace

Well, apart from a broken trainer, this month CPL kept up the usual decent
showing by releasing a few quality trainers...also, with the addition of
a US supplier to the ranks, Capital managed to put out a couple of American
games into the bargain. Duke Nukem is my personal favourite game on GBC,
so I was glad we managed to get it (and the trainer) released...

Good work. I'm not a fishing game fan, but it seems like there's some major
reason why these games are made :)

 - Amptor/Oldskool

Didn't get to try much of this game since I'm not a big fan of fishing,
but nice to see DUZ come back from the dead to release a game.

 - Rza/Menace

Zebco fishing! Hehe...actually a good fishing game, with some very nice
sampled sound-fx/voices. Nice to see Duz back with a decent game...

I remember how many hours I used to put into Dragon Quest games on the NES.
Too bad this is in Japanese though but hopefully they'll release it in English
 too.

 - Amptor/Oldskool

2 previously released games this month as well as 2 brand new ones. Best
out of the bunch was DQ 1&2 which was an awaited game for die hard RPG
fans. Overall a so-so month for EUR.

 - Rza/Menace

A "1.1" release and some unplayable Japcrap this month from EUR, but still
showing they can release Jap games despite competition from many others...
Perhaps October will see the EUR team releasing some better quality fodder.

Impressive work by GBL this month. No dupes here and they're all good
releases. Keep up the good work.

 - Amptor/Oldskool

Seems there's a competitor with RPF for the lamest group...

 - Rza/Menace

GBL keep up their reputation as the lamest people on the Gameboy scene by
releasing some Euro versions of already-released games with almost no
differences, and some japcrap. Truly a lame performance that other unnamed
 groups would be proud of...:)

 stuff for GBC.

Heh...an interesting patch this one, quite a good idea. I'm not sure why
anyone would take the time to fix such a poor game, but I guess when you're

 one for slightly higher-quality releases...

I've been wanting to try out Asteroids for a while since I saw the screen
shots posted a long time back on some pages. This game wasn't suprisingly
weak. Actually, it was a little better than I thought it would be (although
that doesn't say much..but then what can you do with asteroids on an 8bit
system anyhow) Yar's Revenge was kinda cool for a couple minutes then I
figured out it's about as repetative as Pac Man. This game is obviously
only good for nostalgic purpouses, although I never heard of it until recently.

As for the other two games, they are real well done. Looney Tunes is
the best WB game out for GBC now. Although purely a side scroller, it
keeps your attention by changing characters and objectives throughout
the different levels in the game.

Of course, the game of the month is Motorcross Madness 2. Not only does this
game keep the original style of its predacessor, it also has an added in
course editor and very nice colorful levels. One of which has a ferris
wheel you can drive around in a loop on :)

Good work on getting these games out.

 - Amptor/Oldskool

Very good month for MNC. All games were excellent except for Yar's Revenge,
which was nice if you were a fan of the game on Atari 2600. Asteroids
and Motocross Maniacs 2 were my personal favorites and I'm still playing
 MM2 at the moment.

 - Rza/Menace

Well...what to say? Menace pretty much rule the roost once again, releasing
two decent games in Asteroids and Motocross Maniacs 2. Yars Revenge, I have
to say, is the worst game I have ever played in my life, and not just on GBC
either! Still, it's not Menace's fault, they didn't code it :) Another
very good month for MNC - it's getting boring saying that every issue...

Well, I never came across this one because most people knew not to upload
 the dupe to sites.

 - Amptor/Oldskool

Dupe that was overlooked due to OS releasing the game under it's Japanese
game. Hope to see NIL back in action soon.

 - Rza/Menace

-1. Oh dear. Not NIL's best month, that's for sure...in fact, NIL haven't
featured very highly in the charts for a while now. I hope October sees
them back to their previous form, and fingers crossed for some good
PLAYABLE Jap games from them soon.

Nothing here from OS this month that caught my attention. Not many Japanese
releases this month, oddly. All the good games that came out are INT :)

 - Amptor/Oldskool

OS continues to release their usual Japanese games. Not the flood of
games like last month, a pretty slow month for them. Nothing really
worth playing this month, just more games to add to the collection.

 - Rza/Menace

More Japanese games...any more and I'm going to commit Hari-kiri. A simple
guide to jap games, before anyone else releases any:

PLAYABLE GAMES = *GOOD* NON_PLAYABLE GAMES = *BAD*

Please use this helpful guide in the future before you go to release
 something :)

 SUMMARY
 -------

A good month, as I predicted in the previous issue...
Looking into my crystal ball for October, I see:

 Menace ruling again.
 Capital training lots of games.
More shitty Jap releases than flies round a week-old turd.

Will my gypsy-like fortune-telling skills be proved correct once again, or
am I destined to look like a fool as Eurasia, Nil & Oldskool release nothing
but playable Jap games and take over the charts? Stay tuned...
