for almost 1 year now i have been trying to pass
along demojournal's legacy to others.
The point would be that if demojournal would stop
the scene would not notice it is gone.
there are several problems..
demojournal has been trying to gather all week news
but carefully publishing only the essential ones.
all existant online forums/databases
(ojuice, demoscene.org, noerror, gfxzone,
scene.org/incoming) still fail to complement each other.
I cannot understand why on earth don't they merge
and/or include each other.
ojuice claims anyone can add news but not many people
use ojuice for news.
noerror does not report anything else but music news.
demoscene.org is too much extra-scene, besides that
their site sucks. (pardon me for saying that jeroen,
and you are doing a great job but i would not count
half of the stuff you publish as important news)
and scene.org, well, i wont even bother writting about
how chaotic scene.org currently is.
i found the answers to the interviews demojournal had
by simply giving them to diskmags and putting them on
online forums.
i found the answers to the weekly reviews by pushing
the writters to static line. (which i advise everyone
to subscribe into) AND I WISH SOMEONE WOULD MAKE A
SCENE SITE THAT INCLUDES REVIEWS OF THE PRODUCTIONS.
all the productions, not just the new ones like
calodox.org/cde has.
the links and demoparty databases can easily be included
on ojuice, the only problem that remains are the weekly
news gathering. i dont have patience to look into 5
different newsforums every week. i bet other sceners
dont either.
one solution would be weekly news from all sites bundled
into 1 automated email. but that would end up chaotic
and with lots of unwanted information.
so the question of the week is:
does anyone have any solution for this or am i doomed
to keep doing demojournal every single fucking weekend
for the rest of my life?
and btw, should _some_ of past demojournal interviews
be put online at demojournal.planet-d.net or at other
scene online forum sites? (pick one)
