OVERVIEW
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"La d'ou viennent les oiseaux" was a very short 3D film made by two people,
Fra and Spad, with essential musical support from a third partner in crime
whose name has been forgotten by history, though not the quality of his work.
The project was far too ambitious for our means, our experience, and the time
we had available. In other words, it was exactly the kind of production that
teaches useful lessons by first driving straight into a wall. Repeatedly.

PRODUCTION NOTES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All modelling, lighting, shading, and animation were done in LightWave.
Special mention is due to Spad for the rigging and skinning work. Under
LightWave 5.6, that was not a comfortable or forgiving task, and certainly
not something one could take for granted.
The film asked for more than we could realistically deliver at the time, but
that mismatch between intent and means was also part of the exercise. If there
was a method, it was mostly the old one: attempt something oversized, fail in
public, and learn whatever can still be salvaged afterwards.

PUBLIC APPEARANCES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The film was shown at the LTP2 demoparty, where it performed exactly as badly
as its production history might suggest: it did not even place.
Fra also presented the film during a BA art degree defense and failed the
exam. This confirmed, with admirable consistency, that the project was not
carried by what one would call winning momentum.

FINAL WORD
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This was an overreaching piece, built with limited resources, questionable
timing, and more determination than good judgment. It did not triumph. It did,
however, exist, get finished, get shown, and leave behind a few hard-earned
lessons, which is more than can be said for many wiser projects.
