I visited Graffathon 2019 (http://www.graffathon.fi/2019/) and found myself with a couple of hours
free to try to hack togehter a demo. With such a short amount of time I stuck to the basics:
- Use Processing (this is strongy encouraged at Graffathon anyway)
- Stick to 2D effects (makes a change from Shaders and 3D)
- Find a royalty, free four-to-the-floor techono track (easy to sync to)
- Use GNU Rocket for sync (never tried this before - looked fun)
I took some photos of my metro ride to the party (Matinkylä to Aalto) and decided to use those as
inspiration for a theme for the demo as well as textures for the effects themselves.
Even though I aimed low, I still didn't quite manage to finish before the deadline. I took a little
bit of time over the next week to finalise and package the demo. This is the reult. Next year I
hope to be able to stay at the party place long enough to actually write a complete demo during
the weekend!
The demo runs in Processing 3 (on Windows, OSX and Linux) and requires the Moonlander library
(https://github.com/anttihirvonen/moonlander). GNU Rocket was also used to edit the sync but it
isn't required for running the demo (https://rocket.github.io/).
