The 3rd vampire just smiled, pulled a bloody tampon out of his pocket, stuck it in the water, and said.. "TEA TIME !" _ Joke sent in by: STARFADER of VISION ---- Thanks! _ --End-- {*** WARNING *** {Another scroller by Dr.Awesome coming up. You know what that means... don't start reading or you'll be here {all night{!! On the other hand, some quite important messages regarding the {Eurochart {will appear later in this scroll, so it MIGHT be wise to read it anyway... Dr.Awesome!!! Get over here and type a scroller will you? {Oh GAWD NO!!!{ Why me?!! Another week, another scroller to write - will it ever come to an end? Ah shit well let's just put on Wiseguy's wonderful {Intuitracker{, so I can have some music while I type away, and MAAAA!!! Git me a beer from the fridge!!!! ... Now that's better. Well here's another scroller written by Dr.Awesome. Boring? Well if you think it's boring to read, what do you think it's like to {WRITE{ them? Sitting here when I could be Noisetracking instead. Well at the moment I'm pissed off with all that has to do with music anyway - I just spent 3 hours with {Delta Music{ - making a song that was to turn out 3972 bytes long on so-called 'Save All' option. So far, so good, but why the FUCK is it that what you get in Seka isn't the same as what you had inside Delta Music??? After making the song and quite happily saving it, I loaded up Seka and the replayroutine, included the song and expected to hear my new tune. (What else should I expect?? Some rasterbars or some shit like that?? Nahh..) Anyway, what I heard wasn't my song!!! Well it {SORT OF{ was, but the instruments sounded different!! They kept jumping about, and the attack time was all fucked up.. I mean what's the point with the 'Save Final' option when what you get isn't what you had inside the music monitor??? You tell me!! Nah, I'll use {ONLY{ Noisetracker from now on - at least there you get in your demo what you made with the monitor. By the way, the piece you're listening to right now is one of my latest tunes, called {'Beatn The Art'{. It's PARTLY a conversion of a well-known house tune, and PARTLY my own composition - hope you like it! The music was made with Noisetracker 1.1. Are You wondering about those C-64 style lead instruments in there? (Like the instruments you get with SidMon etc..) You wanna know how to get that kind of instruments in Noisetracker? Well I'm {not{ gonna tell you.. If you're a bit smart you'll figure it out, and if you're not and still really want to find out, rip it and see for yourself. Back to Delta Music.. 'Shogun' - the author of Delta Music - if you read this, I like your music monitor but when you play notes lower than about A3 they get detuned, so it's very hard to make a good bass-line. And also what you save with 'Save Final' should {ALWAYS{ be what you get in Seka!!!! Phix these two small (?) problems, and it will be the best C64-style music monitor. Never mind - Noisetracker is IT and there's still no other music monitor to beat it. At the moment everyone's talking about Noisetracker 2.0 but no-one has it!! I've seen the intro for it too, but where's the program guys? I've been speaking to Germany, Sweden, UK, France and Finland on the phone today but Noisetracker 2.0 seems to be something everyone thinks everyone else has and nobody actually has it... I can't wait to get my hands on them MIDI-options, so I wannit!!! Oh well I guess it'll turn up sooner or later. Shit I guess all this bullshit music-talk gets boring for all you non-musicians out there! Tough luck.. Talking about phone calls I had a strange one today... This French guy called me up and almost before I'd answered, he started plappering away in {french{! I didn't know what the fuck this frenchman was talking about so I asked him if he spoke any english. Well he never answered and just kept chatting on with his french. What was I supposed to do? I managed to pick up the words 'Dr.Aewesoumme' (that's me in french I suppose) and something about 'Cruesaiderz' but I had no idea what he was talking about, and besides Havoc of {Ecstacy{ called meon another line (Hi Havoc), so I just hung up. What a strange day.. Anyway a question to all the frenchmen out there: Is it true that you don't speak much english? I didn't know that this was a problem until today when meester Frechque Voulez Vouz called me up.. Anyway, a couplah hours after speaking to the strange frenchman I was called up by a guy from Germany (I think he called himself 'Burning City' or something like that). Well he put me onto a phone conference and we had a good time for a while but unfortunately he didn't have access to the conference for very long. Anyway there were mostly Crusaders members in there... Hey you guys I was just reminded - if you wanna meet up with the Crusaders for a beer or 10, then call the nearest travel agency and book your tickets to London! We will be there in September for the {PCW show{ and we'll try to meet as many cool Amiga friends as possible, so {MEET US THERE!{ Of course that goes especially for you guys who live in London, like Ecstacy. (Big Al, Havoc, and the rest of those hippies) Let's get {DRONK{ and have a ball, ok? Any other groups from London reading this? Call us up or write to us and we'll meet up in London! Whether we already know you or not, we'd love to meet you! Well after this little flip-out, now what was I supposed to talk about? Oh yeah the Eurochart! El Cubo! Is this the scroller for the May Eurochart or what the bleedin fuck is it?? It {is{ the EuroChart. Ok then, what can we say about it? Ok first of all some information about changes since last issue... There aren't that many changes really. The most important one is that the results are now given complete with percentage of votes etc. This means a lot of extra work for us, but the readers wanted it, so what else can we do? We would have liked to change some routines, refreshen the layout a bit but you must have excused this time. We've all been really busy the last couple of months, so you'll have to settle for the same layout and general use as last time. Anyway, as we see it, the EuroChart was never meant to be a demo. The results are what's important here, not the graphics or the coding or whatever. It's supposed to be {Informative{, not {impressive{. I remember in the VERY beginning we were thinking of just spreading the results as an ASCII text file! But then we thought 'Naah.. no-one will copy it, and any lamer at all can edit the text file and make his own results - with the Crusaders name on it!' So we made it as a very simple little demo with selection screen etc. Well the presentation HAS got a little better since then, but still it is more of a document really, than a demo. Since the first issue, a lot of things have been changed. We had to sort of 'feel our way' at first and see what the public out there wanted and it looks like we're closing in on it. Now follows a few words about the changes made since the March-90 issue. First of all, we've added a 'Quit' function. Hallelujah - no need to reset anymore. Also, the technique used when counting votes is a bit changed. Until now, every demo/group/whatever voted for has got ONE vote each. Now we give away different amount of points, depending on the position on each voter's chart. If for example you send in your voting form with 'Best Group: 1) Paranoimia, 2) RSI, 3) Scoopex' then Paranoimia will be given 3 points, RSI 2 points and Scoopex 1 point. If you write more than 3, the ones from position 3 and onwards will get one vote each. You're very welcome to write down 10 good groups, then they will get 3, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, and so on.. If you only write ONE group, it will be given 3 points. Get it? This goes for everything on the Eurochart of course, not only the group charts. Think about this the next time you vote! (And in here a special thanks to {Espirit/Wizzcat{ for ALWAYS sending his votes and writing down 3 entries on each topic.) But of course you don't HAVE to do that. If you just want to vote for best demo and best music, then that's what you do. ALL votes are treated equally - no matter what you've voted for and no matter who the fuck you are. Actually this time we got some rather funny votes from a guy who was being very straightforward.. Right above his votes, he had written: {'Well since you said lamers are allowed to vote as well, here are my votes for your Eurochart'{. How about that? At least the guy was being honest, and of course his votes were treated like everyone else's. That's what the Eurochart is all about folks - it doesn't matter if you're the leader of a BIG group or if you're just a total lamer. EVERYONE is welcome to take part in the EuroChart. Another funny vote we had this time was a guy who absolutely thought that 'Aftenposten' was the best 'real' mag - and Aftenposten is the biggest and most conservative morning newspaper in Norway. hehe.. Ok here's a special message from El Cubo to all our readers out there.. If you send your votes for the EuroChart, and send a disk with your votes, we will send you the finished Eurochart immediately when it's ready. Promise! However, don't try to send a disk {without{ votes! We will ignore your letter and keep the disk if you don't vote! So there! Send votes AND disk - and you will receive the next chart directly from Crusaders. Ok we have a couple of things to say to those who have been voting: Honestly we do appreciate ALL votes coming in but {PLEASE !!{ when you vote for an album or a single {DO NOT{ write 'Jason Donnovan - his latest album' or 'Jarre - all his records' !!!! We absolutely {need{ you to write down both group AND title of the album/single. Just because we're running this thing doesn't mean we know the title of every album released the last 20 years!! So please keep your votes {complete{ with titles etc. Another problem are votes for things like {'Everything from Stock, Aitken and Waterman'. {We sure as shit understand that you hate their music, but who is to get the vote? There are quite a number of artists doing S, A & W stuff, and I can't say I remember every single they have released. So please give us a more specific name to use. Another thing: Some guys have asked us, 'How is it possible that Batman can get on both the WORST and BEST movie charts??' Well it's really really simple! A lot of people vote for it as best movie - and a lot of people hate it, so they vote for it as worst movie. And so it ends up on both the 'worst' and 'best' section. This shouldn't be too hard to understand! Lots of people love it - lots of people hate it. It's as simple as that. Also, someone asked us: 'Do you guys in ANY way affect the results on the charts?' And the answer is 'Yes, we vote!' We give our votes to what we like, just like {you{ should be doing - and that's IT. One more thing: Some of you seem to think that we only accept ONE vote per group - but that's not how we do it. You can send as many votes as you want to, so get all your friends to vote too! Lastly, for those of you who still haven't noticed, there's NO use in voting for Crusaders or any of our members, because we will not put ourselves in the chart. This was a mistake we were doing on the first couple of issues - we thought Crusaders could take part like all other groups, but people seemed to be a little too kind to us and loads of people voted for Crusaders as best group etc. although I'm quite sure they didn't really mean it! And thus we ended up very high in many charts, and this was definately not right. We even ended up as no. 2 on 'Best group' and everyone knows that we're not the 2nd best group in the world - even we know that. But we did NOT cheat with the votes guys! We couldn't help that people voted for us. Anyway we thought that the best idea was to keep ourselves OUT of the charts so now it's no point in voting for Dr.Awesome for best music or Crusaders in anyway because we will NOT appear on the charts. Got that? Good. A good friend of mine also asked me 'Don't you guys cheat just a LITTLE with the votes, to put your own favourites in..?' and I said N O !!!! We NEVER cheat with the votes for the Eurochart!! We sort of put our pride and dignity into that and we're VERY careful about getting it all correct when we count the votes. So now you know too - the EuroChart is the TRUE opinion of the Amiga world! Ok, that's enough talk about the Eurochart - now I wanna send away some personal helloes to the following cool fellas... {Savatage{ (thanks for the graphics, we will DEFINATELY use the 'Creation' logo, and congratulations to you and your girlfriend on you-know-what!!!) {Martyn Spadger Jimmyboy Brown(noser) {hehe I am in a funny mood today or is it the beer... get Maria to put vocals on the disco tune and we'll go for #1 in the London charts! :) {Wiseguy/Triumph{ : Thanks a million for Intuitracker (don't leave home without it) but when will there be a CLI version ? See you on 810881.. {Garfield{... the CRAZY fellah who sent me more than 40 disks when I asked for about 10... THANKS! The guys in {Kefrens{: your utilities are wonderful, good luck with your next project (whatever that might be..) U-oh here comes El Cubo and he wants to have a go at the keyboard but I'm not finished yet! What.. the.. {Hey!!{ Ouch!! {El Cubo, what the hell are you doing?{ I'm not done yet! I wanna write more! Stop pushing me, man!!!!!!!!! arghh!! keep yer.. *!#@!!/&!* shit! {will you get yer hands off my *?*&!'!#* !!!{ Here's El Cubo coming online. (You know the theory of the survival of the fittest :-) I guess I should write a couple of lines too. Though I wasn't supposed to do the coding on this chart in the beginning, but as the 1st of May was rapidly coming closer, we decided we should only slightly modify the last chart. So I ended up behind the keyboard this time too. Since my Amiga currently is on the 'Fritz' I'd like to send some {BIG{ thanks to Dr.Awesome for letting me use his. There wouldn't be neither a music disk nor a chart (at least not by me) if he hadn't been as cooperative. I hope the small improvements are making the 'list-reading-interface' a bit better. I know some of you have been complaining about there not being a possibility to stop the printing of the lists and that the list displayed wasn't always the same as the one you were pointing at at the menu. Well, I fixed those bugs. So I guess I will save you some hair-pulling and screaming. I'd like to apologise to all our american readers. This thing still doesn't work very well on an NTSC Amiga. I promise you all: {Next Time{ the chart will work on NTSC (Well, at least the next time I'm doing the coding). Once again: There just wasn't time to do anything about it this time. Ok you guys, everything has to come to an end, and so does this scroller... If you're reading this bit, that means you don't have much else to do.. I would never read a scroller for this long... anyway now it's time to do something else.. sod off! (text restarts)......
