Alright I know I will probably get ripped seven ways from sunday but here it goes. In my opinion this month has been the worse month for the vga releases from all groups. So I'm wondering why? Did too many vga artist get bummed out on vday? Did the groundhog scare the lilly fuck out of em?
I mean sure every group has it's off month but it seems this month was everyone's off month.

Yeah, it's been kind of dissappointing this month. And most groups are late.. very late. iCE had a good excuse, but the rest of you?!

Because the packs are delayed, the reviews will also be delayed. I won't post them until all planned reviews are written. Basically, we're waiting for ACiD...

i dont think hrgpack#25 was worser then 24, 23 or 22..
And we havent got it in time, because all the hrg have been participating in local demoparty, here in Moscow.. We need to take a rest... Anyone think this month was bad for us too? Show him the pack, then show him to me.. We will have lots to talk about :)...

In my opinion
I wouldnt say worse, but I certainly wouldnt say better. I'd say it lacks the intensity of the others mentioned.

I thought HRG was pretty good. YOYO's pics were enjoyable as always. I also liked that sprocked/yoyo joint. the b/w hand drawings were not too bad. "fern" by hazar was excellent! I couldn't tell if it was rendered or handdrawn or both? except the yellow flower in the middle looked out of place. "infinity" by diamond was a neat pic.

I keep hearing people say that about the flower being out of place in hazar's pic. I thought that was sort of the whole point behind the pic and what made it great. Unlike most artists' rendered scenes you see, this isn't just about making some random scene look good. I see it as you've got this little nook of nature that's isolated and no one knows about, and here's this sort of magical flower.. it's alone by itself and unknown, but still special. It's actually a theme that I see a lot in hrg packs, and part of the hrg mood.. this idea of solitude. It was all over in this pack.

Iron Lung's pic was pretty similar, with the theme of the unique object in the middle of nature, though his is more of a lonely, dejected object. Immortal's pic with the man alone in the black space with downward sloping ramp.. the word scream makes me think of Munch's piece that also deals with a different kind of personal alienation... And then yoyo's prisoner who chooses to stay imprisoned, while still admiring the outside world. Sprocket's son of typography is alone in a kind of bleak room, but still completely engaged with playing with his letters. Remission's god-knows-what looks totally dead, but still manages to stand upright, basking in the radiant light that might have killed it in the first place. Yoyo's fiddler plays only for the lone cat and the solitary moon. And my own pic was created to try to convey a kind of introspective, solitary mood. Hell, even Bonse's architectural sketches fit the mood. That house looks *alone*.

So it's these kinds of things that I love about HRG releases, and I think this pack demonstrated it exceptionally well. That's what I'm talking about when I say the pack flows together well. It's been mentioned before that there weren't many individual pieces that were outstanding by themselves, and I'd agree. But I still loved the pack overall.

god, its not that it looked out of place. In fact I think it was a very very nice touch to the drawing. Its just that it looked physically out of place, like its just floating in space or something.
